I drive from Dallas, Texas faithfully every year to Tennessee to Chicago to the world's GREATEST POPCORN GARRETT"S POPCORN!!!!!! (During the 4th of July, "Taste Of Chicago") I've never disliked this great tasting popcorn from the first day I taste it, now I will agree customer service is horrible, but if you know what you want before you get there it should knock off a few disappointments. Now prices may be high but I never complain because everyone has there own option to buy or not to buy and I choose to BUY IT!!! I even order from the internet when I go back home when I run out because I love it just that much. So I'm telling you the wait in the long line is worth it especially for the Buttery Chessey Popcorn ( You can never go wrong)... It's always fun to bring someone with you that'll keep company while waiting because I always take my whole family because its like our every year spot, and if you enjoy just walking the city, then it won't be a problem. Also for the people who don't like spending that much, you can always get a bag of the popcorn at a very nice size for about $6.00-$7.00 and it'll last you for a coulple of day's (But that depends on if you can stop yourself from eating it all : )....So for all the negative things said look over it because the problem is with the customer service and not the popcorn and with all the complaints people still come back FAITHFULLY!!! So to make things a little easier go online and check out the different popcorns they have and pick what you would like to taste and then go wait in the long line for a long lasting tast.... I LOVE GARRETT'S POPCORN!!!
Pros: GREAT POPCORN!!!!!!!
Cons: BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE BUT LIFE GOES ON.....

There is no doubt that garretts popcorn is delicious, but I have to agree with some of the consumers the staff is clueless and rude and show no compassion to the consumers that wait in the long line for sometimes over a hour. I visited the Michigan Ave. store about a month ago and at 10:10 p.m. on a Saturday the guy said, "We are out of caramel corn for the night!" But the store closed at 11:00 p.m. so after hearing this we got out of line after about twenty minutes. There are a bunch of kids working in these stores that have no self respect and the owner needs to hire people that are more responsible and understand the definition of real customer service. Good Popcorn! Terrible staff!
Pros: Good Popcorn
Cons: Terrible customer service, long lines

The worst customer service you can imagine. These people are totally useless. The product is incredibly expensive, and mediodre. NOT worth it. The shipping charges are exhorbitant, $38 for 'overnite' delivery, but guess what...it takes a minimum of 2 days. A better choice - Moose Munch from Harry & David: professional, courteous AND delicious.
Pros: NONE
Cons: Customer Service non-existent, mediocre product, exhorbitantly priced, bad delivery..what more can be wrong?

Visit the stores on Michigan Ave or Jackson in Chicago just to see what is arguably the most brain dead group of shuffling mopes to ever grace a single payroll. Absolutely the worst run retail stores I have ever seen. Some day a smart energetic business person will hire some intelligent, motivated staff, go into competition, and put these people out of business. Don't waste your money or your valuable time. The stuff is bad for you anyway.
Pros: tastes great
Cons: worst service in the free world

I first learned about Garretts popcorn in 2002-just saw this long, long line winding down Michigan Ave. and did not know what the line was for. Every time I saw this line, it was almost down the block and around the corner. On Christmas Eve 2002, I went by the line and it was the shortest I had seen, just a few stores long. So, I got in the line, and I asked, -what are we in line for? They said POPCORN. The lady in front of me, told me she drove in from Wisconsin to get in line for Garretts popcorn and it was worth the wait. Everyone else in the lline had their own story. The line was only 45 min. long that day, so I waited. By the time it was my turn, I bought $75.00 worth popcorn--butter, caramel, and cheese. Plus I got pistachio nuts. It was UNBELIEVEABLE. Could not stop eating it. Everyone loved it and now it is a Chicago Tradition. It tates different from most popcorns. One year, I was standing in line (had wound around for about an hour), and I was inside the shop where the line still winds around. Well, something around the popcorn pans CAUGHT FIRE!! BUT NO ONE GOT OUT OF LINE!!! Smoke billowed out and no one moved. They put out the fire and no one left the line. The popcorn was fiine and did not taste burned. It was WORTH THE WAIT!!!!!!!!!! This is no 4.5 star , it is a FIVE STAR!!!!!!!! S
Pros: BEST POPCORN you ever tasted
Cons: a teensy shop, long lines, expensive, but worth it

I know it seems dumb to write a review about popcorn. I mean popcorn??? We've all had it, and it's all pretty much the same. Oh no my friend. You couldn't be more wrong. I actually found out about this Chicago gem from a co worker that lives in Dallas Tx!!! He was here on business and had to make a point of going to Garretts and getting three shopping bags full of the stuff. I'm thinking the guy is crazy but then he let me taste the cheese, and a little bit of the plain and I got what he was talking about. This popcorn is incredible!!! The cheese is phenomenal. The plain is a perfect mixture of buttery salty goodness. I now make it a point to not only get this popcorn for myself, but I too am one of the many standing in line to buy the popcorn and ship it to others throughout the country. A funny note. I was dating a girl in LA, and according to her, the best gift I ever sent her was the Garretts popcorn!!! Don't miss out on the chance to see what everybody stands in line for. It's incredibly good popcorn.

Garrett Popcorn shops have the best popcorn I have ever tasted in my life! All the other popcorn shops are pretenders to the throne. I'll be the first to admit that the lines are always long and it can be a little pricey but what do you expect when it taste like heaven. This is one shop you have to stop at if you are ever visiting the Chicago area! My favorite is the carmel and cheese popcorn mix...
Pros: You can't beat the taste and they are open pretty late
Cons: Long lines and a little pricey for popcorn

I wish I had read these reviews, instead of relying on Oprah's and Rachel Ray's recommendations. This is a continuation of my review of their Jackson store. We paid $11 to park, so we could stand in line at the Jackson Blvd store for an hour only to be told they didn't have any caramel corn left, so we should shuffle over to their Michigan Ave store, because they are open later and will have it. $11 down the drain. Oh, well. So, we got our car out of the parking garage and fought traffic to get to the Mich Ave store. THE GUY TOLD US THE MICHIGAN AVE STORE WOULD HAVE CARAMEL CORN. HE LIED! We waited in line at the Mich Ave store to be told at 8:02 pm that they were out of caramel corn and wouldn't be making any more. IF YOUR STORE IS OPEN UNTIL 9 PM, HAVE THE WHEREWITHALL TO HAVE YOUR PRODUCT AVAILABLE AT 8:02 PM! Why stop making your top-selling product 58 minutes before your store closes? BTW, it may have been longer than that, but that's when I arrived. I am certain that if I had my own TV show I would get superior service, but the numb-brains who work at these stores are indifferent, lazy, rude, bored, and convinced me never to step foot in one of their stores again. HORRIBLE!
Pros: Smelled good!
Cons: The horrible service prevented us from ever finding out if it tastes as good as it smells.

I will never go there again! Their staff are very indifferent and incredibly rude. It's a McDonald service at Cheese Cake Factory price. I also found out a little secret (from a former employee). Here's what Garrett won't tell you: they make their cheese corn with a cheese paste that has been chemically processed in the facory. It's full of transfat (e.g., Crisco), artificial color, artificial flavoring, and preservatives. It's a tier below CheezeWhizz. Oh yeah, it comes in a plastic TUB. To be specific, it's made by Gold Metal and it's chemical #2392 "Cheddar Gold". YUK, YUK, YUK!!!!!! they don't deliver on quality. Oprah must be getting paid a lot of $ for her endorsement b/c I am sure she doesn't eat chemicals like this.
