Great Place for a Celebration!

by ChicagoGal26

This was the first time my husband and I ate at the Signature Room at the 95th. Wanted to for years and finally decided to splurge. Entering the restaurant takes you back to a fifties feeling but we liked it and felt it works. The views are amazing as you walk out of the elevator. Staff were very pleasant and attentive. We left feeling that the food, service and view were worth the pricey bill. Drinks are priced from $8 beers to $13 for a glass of wine. We had a very good cheese plate appetiser that could have been improved by providing an assortment of crackers. I wanted to try their lobster bisque but just could not talk myself into spending the excessive $10 for a small bowl of soup. Our entrees of pork tenderloin($30) and filet of steak($40) were excellent. They were both cooked perfectly and accompanied with outstanding sauces. Side dish choices were alacarte and enough for two to share. Yes, we left with a pricey bill of $120. We never spend this much while eating out. However, this was well worth it for a special two hour celebration, seated by the window, overlooking our beautiful City of Chicago.

  • Pros: Views/Ambiance, Food, Romantic
  • Cons: Pricey

How do you not like this place

by consumerreporting

Yum! We really enjoy the Signature Room and everything it offers: Good Food, Good Drinks, Great Service, Great Deserts. The only downfall is the parking (lot at $24) and sometimes the wait time. Otherwise, the view is wonderful, especially if you can catch the fireworks at Navy Pier.

  • Pros: Everything you want in a restaurant
  • Cons: Parking lot and sometimes wait time

Worst Event Staff ever!!!

by MiamiNy17

A view that is undeniable, food is just good, not excellent. However, what is up with the service staff?

The staff seems careless about business, and it is even worse when trying to send big parties to them. If you really want something with a view, visit the Mid-America Club instead!

  • Pros: View
  • Cons: Staff that thinks they have enough business to care for their customers

Good lunch buffet - Great View!

by Boo526

Locals - On a beautiful, clear day...try the lunch buffet. At $18.00 for all you can eat, you won't break the bank and the view is tremendous! Great fun for a special occasion or business lunch.

Very Exquisite Venue

by vivaciousdivah

Absolutely love and appreciate the Signature Room! It seems to whisk you away into a high-landing fairytale while dining on the 95th floor of the Hancock Building. The restaurant overlooks Chicago's great skyline, as it is the neighbor to many notable skycrapers. Pricey, very pricey, but the food, the ambience, the intimate setting, the convenience presented to the patrons, is all worth it. Upscale, sleek, and urbane place to enjoy the company of one or more.

  • Pros: Convenient Parking, the view, the luxury of fine dining, the service, the sleek intimate atmosphere
  • Cons: Pay for Parking

Great Service and perfect view

by cplus312

I was thinking about not going due to all the bad reviews from people. I went for my anniversary , I made reservations about a week ahead and they asked me if there was any special ocassion and I told them yes. It was on a saturday night, we got there about 30 min late and as soon as we got there we got seated no waiting (and it was sweeties day) They gave us a window seat towards navy pier, so at 9:00 pm we got to see the fireworks, The service was perfect and the food was real good, The price's are alright depending on what u get they start from $20.00 and the dishes are a good portion I had the NY strip with mash and it stuff me up. Then the cheef sent my wife a fruit cocktail with a chocolate writing that read "Happy Anniversary" at no charge. The View is beatifull and the service is great. Note that there is a dress code. Shirt and slacks, Tie is optional. Great place 5 stars all the way

  • Pros: Everything was good

Barely worth it

by dianekalar

Went for lunch and were able to get a window table. The view is as great as you would expect. The service and food, however, are average. We had to ask for drink refills and they were not timely - at $3.50 for a soda in a Collins glass you are going to want at least one refill! We went with the buffet as none of the lunch entrees seemed remarkable. The buffet food was OK but I would expect a larger selection for the price, as well as at least one hot vegetable. There were a lot of families (the American Girl store is across the street) so it was a little noisy and less romantic than we expected.

  • Pros: view
  • Cons: food, service

amazing view

by egianna

Food and view were both very good. Service was a little different. We had to ask for refills on drinks and when we did, there was a ten minute wait before we received it. We felt that you don't get the right amount of attention for a $250 dinner. Because of the amazing view and pretty good food we would go back. We were also a little disappointed that after spending that much money we thought we would be able to get in at the lounge, but the person running the line to get into the 96th floor lounge was very rude and acted more like a bounce of a night club rather than a person from a nice restaurant.

Amazing Restaurant, Alright Food

by IceMouse

I took my girlfriend here as a surprise to end a trip to Chicago. I made reservations for 8PM(Because sunset was listed for 8:15, but things don't get dark until about 9). To get there you take an express elevator which takes probably less than a minute to scale 95 floors(Your ears definitely pop!). When you get there, you're greeted with the most spectacular view of the city you could ever hope for. I got there 30 minutes early because I wanted to request a south window seat early(The view of the city which has the skyscrapers, lake, Navy Pier, etc) and you are NOT able to request a table with your reservations, meaning that we had to wait for one. At 8 the server said that it could be over an hour before we were seated, but amazingly at 8:30 he called our name and gave us an amazing table. The service here was impeccable, the only issue is that the servers did not seem very personal at all. We were served by about 3 or 4 different people, none of which introduced themselves, and they seemed to serve the section as a group, as several people got their dessert, checks, etc all at once. We ordered almost all of the vegetarian selections on the menu, the appetizer was a mushroom strudel with goat cheese and truffle which was delicious, even though I don't like mushrooms! It was also very well presented. The main courses were a different story. I ordered the grilled eggplant which was drenched in a sauce which didn't taste very good and didn't feel like it was cooked amazingly well(It was, however, well-presented). My girlfriend got pasta primavera which was delicious, but it didn't seem to be anything you couldn't find elsewhere. The desserts were well-priced, she got the creme brulee which was about what you would expect, and delicious. The atmosphere well makes up for all of this, it is a sight that cannot be captured in the photos.

  • Pros: View from any spot, amazing service, great appetizers and dessert, not extremely expensive
  • Cons: If you're looking for an entree that will amaze you, look elsewhere

My husband took me there for our anniversary. The atmosphere is very elegant and classy. My husband made reservations beforehand to get a table by a window. If you want good seats, I suggest you make reservations beforehand. The view is amazing. You get great food and a one of a kind view at the same time. The service was great. Our waiter did not rush us. He took his time and checked if we needed anything. The food was also fabulous!

  • Pros: Service and food were excellet
  • Cons: To get good seats, make reservations beforehand
