Staph Infection from Manicure/Fungus from Pedicure
by LJ410
I went to the MI Ave. location in May, and am still battling a Staph infection in my thumb. I have been through 5 rounds of oral antibiotics, 3 rounds of antibiotic shots, and just yesterday had a portion of the nail removed.
I have paid $150 in copays for office visits, $125 in ER copays, and over $200 in prescriptions. Plus the cost of the mani/pedi.
Oh, and I have fungus in everyone of my toes. DON'T GO TO THIS SALON, for the sake of your health.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Still have infection and medical bills are mounting
DON'T GO, THEY HAVE CHANGED THEIR HAIR COLOR COMPANY - AND ITS FOR THE WORSE
by lyinglowchicago
I have had my hair colored blond for about 6 years at Mario Tricoci. Lately I have noticed breakage. A few months ago my hair was thick and beautiful. I just learned that Mario Tricoci switched their hair coloring brand. I am not going back becuse I feel that it is unfair that my stylist never told me about the change and the end result is damaging. I am glad that I am getting out before it gets too bad. Do't go blond at Mario Tricoci!
My hair sucks now!
by duman
I went to one of the top colorist at the Schaumburg location and my hair looks like boring hell. I look like I got my highlights done at JC Penny or something. I asked for something different and cool and I got these lame as hell highlights with no personaltiy. I paid a lot of money to get cool hair and I look more like a fool.
- Cons: over priced, top colorist sucks, annoyed
advice is to pay a bit more and go somewhere else
by sunnygirl54
I moved to chicago streeville area and decided to try out this salon that seemed to have a good reputation in the midwest. i thought i had found a salon that was moderate in price but did not forego quality. Its obvious that this salon is more of a supercuts feel than a salon. Although the cost for a cut and color was fair, i'd rather pay more for better service & quality. (*ie: my colorist stained my skin with black dye b/c he forgot to line my forehead with the dye protector/greese!) I love to find a good bargain, but this was just not worth it.
- Pros: inexpensive
- Cons: service
Factory
by CRychlee
Save your money! It's moe like a factory, than a spa! I'll NEVER go back- after three appointments, I've figured out" the service is ok, atmosphere ok, way overpriced and untalented, right-out-of-school employees. A total strike out!
My favorite salon!

I've left Mario Triccoci a few times to try out salons my friends swear by, but I always come back. MT is a sure thing - I know my hair is going to look great when I leave. The people who work there really listen to you and deliver results. I almost always bring pictures because I think that really helps and I get haircuts and colors exactly like I wanted. I always feel beautiful when I leave - due to the color, the cut, and the service. The price can be high (compared to say - Great Clips), but it's a lot less than I've paid at other salons! And you can request to go with a lower priced hairstylist and still get a great cut for $40.
- Pros: great skills, excellent service, decent pricing
- Cons: can be busy, they push products
Terrible....
by Lukeriah
Mario Tricoci's is more of a factory than a Spa. If you want a relaxing time, do NOT go there. If you wante to be placed on an assembly line to get your services, then by all means, this is the place for you.
I have had my appointments booked wrong, (not due to changes or complications) at least 40% of the time I've been there. I finally gave up and foudn a Spa that I love, that is cheaper too! Mario's is a waste of money.
- Cons: scheduling, rushed pace, loud atmosphere
Jo is a great hair cutter
by Valerie_Neymeyer
Jo at Mario Tricoci at 900 N. Michigan is a GREAT cutter, I've been going to her for cuts for the last four years and wouldn't think of trying anyone else!
RIP OFF
by AngelicSee
Time and time again I keep going back to bad service. The stylist are awful and rude, the atmosphere sucks, and there is way to much attitude. The worst part is they never take your opinion in account when getting something done. They always think they know what you want, and dont listen at all if you try to tell them. I have gone more than 15 times for different services. I wish I could give a better review, but they are just not worth it.
Haircut is a NO
by ameeh
My experience at MT was less than favorable. My expectations were high based on MT's reputation and that I was going to be pampered with 4 treatments. The hostess was pleasant, but when the pedicurist would step away for 15 minutes with no warning and started having personal conversations with her co-workers, I knew I didn't have their full attention. The manicure and make-up application were fine, but the haircut was AWFUL and UNEVEN! I didn't care for the way she styled my hair but figured I could always fix that, but when I looked in a mirror later that day I realized how uneven my hair was. I had to go back the next morning to get it fixed. It's been 7 months and I'm still trying to grow-out her mistake!
