Corrective Color / Severly Damaged Hair

I read thru several dozen salon review in Chicago. I found these reviews and decided to call Alex myself after reading about Alex Diana and Philip. If you need CORRECTIVE COLOR and have DAMAGED HAIR. Do not go anywhere else. Read this !

I had 3 bad color jobs within 2 weeks that destroyed my hair to the point it was breaking off every minute. It was black and white with no tone/and I have golden blone hair with highlights. I met with Phillip and Diana for a consult. I spent an hour with them and they both compassionately gave me their recommendations. I couldn't be more pleased regarding the honesty, skill, advice and care in which I was handled.

Diana recommended the safest way to correct my hair. She glossed me so the white damaged hair had a golden tone to it. after glossing it she went over some pieces with two colors to give it more dimension. She also said she wanted to earn my trust so I could see how she would foil my hair in the future. The fact that she said I shouldn't trust her, until I earn it; made my anxiety over this hair process drop about 90%. I didn't trust anyone, because my hair (as she put it) has been abused and has been unethically handled and I couldn't agree more.

I can now look in the mirror without bursting into tears. I can get out of bed and go Christmas shopping and know even when this washes out, I do know that I can come back to Diana and Phillip and CJ who washed and dried my hair beautifully. He blow dried my hair better than anyone ever in LIFE and it actually looked non-damaged when he was done. I warned I might come back before work everyday. Ha!

I know because of TRIO I will be able to look in the mirror again! I am so excited about the future. My hair is incredibly damaged and I may not be at my "desired result" YET but it is something "LIVEABLE and BELIEVEABLE". I loved that word; Diana told me you need something believable and I can’t let you leave looking like this on Christmas! She didn’t pressure me at all. She created exactly what she said she would. I had no idea how it would look, but the important thing is it looks like me! Matched my natural color pretty darn close! She took her time and I was so scared after spending so much money and the disaster I had before; was afraid it would break more; cost more; look orange; or who knows what. The cost was BETTER than reasonable OR expected for the amount of time BOTH of them took with me. I had Gloss and a Malibu treatment but I got much more than that during the consultation and visit. I even saw Diana give a recommendation to another client, which saved the client money, time, and damage to her naturally beautiful hair. I heard her honesty, and that won me over and helped me decide to trust her and give her the chance to help me when I felt no one in the world could. I felt helpless. I am a fan of Trio, Diana, Phillip, and CJ. I am forever grateful. I can't change the disaster that happened prior to Trio, but I know I now am in the hands of experts, who are genuine, compassionate, honest, thoughtful, and most of all have integrity. Which is hard to find in any business! I am so glad your team is my new hair color experts that will NEVER let this happen to me again. THANK YOU!

Disappointed

I've been getting my Haircut by Farrah for almost 2 yrs. I called TRIO recently to find out she was no longer at the salon. Without giving me a moment to even react to the terrible news they tried to shove me onto someone else. I would never leave Farrah, she's the Best! I ended the conversation and googled Farrah. I was able to find at her new salon.

Best cut and color

Trio provides the absolute best cut and color in all of Evanston- I've been to every other high end salon in town, and after finding Trio I'm not going elsewhere. Every time I leave, I have summer blonde perfection. The stylists (rosa) provides perfect advice on how to keep looking hot, and how to avoid the dreaded "soccer mom" look- Totally worth every penny.

Great salon!

Tracy is fantastic with color and Jeri is amazing with curly hair! I highly recommend both of them. Not only are they highly skilled, they are both conscientious and a pleasure to be around.

The one drawback of the salon is the cancellation policy. Don't get the flu and cancel the same day or your credit card will be slapped with the entire cost of the service. They do send a gift card for 1/2 the cost of the services but still, this is a unique policy to hair salons and one that can leave a bad taste in your mouth.

Alex is my new guilty pleasure!

I work in River North and a friend suggested this salon.

I love the little tree lined street it was on. I arrived early and the staff was great in getting me tea and making sure I was comfortable. The best part though is that I met Alex. He gave me the best cut. He is the owner and a little bit more expensive then what I have been paying but I have to say it was well worth it. My cut is three weeks out and it still really looks amazing. I would definitely suggest planning for extra time to fnd parking at the meters or pay $15 and park around the corner.

Nikki and Farrah are amazing!!!!

I saw Nikki and Farah for my hair last week... my hair was just unruly dull, frizzy, grey/Brown, long and plain! Nikki and I went over a great plan a of action . she thought we should deepen my color for fall but add a few highlights to brighten around my face wow what a difference!! my hair is shinny and multi dimensional as for the frizz?? she told me about a great new thing called the Brazilian Blowout she swears by it! its supposed to defrizz your hair in 2 hours and last 2-3 months! so I booked myself an appt for this week! after the color the assistants were great! They really relaxed me! then over to Farah! my hair was long and I wanted something different but still I wanted hair she could see I was scared so she walked me thru the whole haircut before starting she added layers cut off the dead ends layered around my face it was perfect! My hair never looked so good I would HIGHLY recommend both Nikki &Farrah to everyone! they’re both so cute, friendly, hip and KNOW what they‘re doing!!! you wont be disappointed!!

Horrific customer service

I booked an appointment for a full highlight and unfortunately had the stomach flu on the say of my appointment. I did not cancel within the 24 hour policy so they CHARGED me for the service anyway. I pleaded with them and they finally agreed to send a gift card for half the cost of the service.

I then rebooked an appointment only to have the stylist cancel on me! I showed up for my 9am appointment after taking a 40 minute train ride to find out my stylist would not be showing up that day. I pointed out that I was charged when I canceled an appointment due to stomach flu and asked what they planned to do. Well, nothing!

Trio Salon feels it's okay to charge their clients for a canceled appointment doesn't doesn't feel the need to do anything for you when they cancel at the last minute. I understand that things come up and stylists have to cancel but I don't understand that I have to pay a penalty and they offered nothing for their cancellation.

I would NEVER go back to Trio and I would advise all my friends to stay away. The owner did not even have the common courtesy to call me back.

Some of the details are not accurate; we have a FOUR (4) hour cancellation policy that we do adhere to, however there is no excuse for the owner not calling you back. I've gotten color with Diana and cut with Theresa forever.

I will not let anyone else touch my hair. These two can do miracles with my very fine hair. I get so many compliments for their work, even weeks after getting it done. Sometimes I already need another appointment and I am still getting compliments. I have had to travel all over with work and have had strangers ask me where I get my hair done. Truely, they have always done a superb job! They have also taught CJ to really understand my hair type.

Aaron David is a cut above the rest

I had such a wonderful experience walking into Trio Salon, being new to the city I didn’t know what direction to go in when it came to a hair salon. I walked into Trio and got paired up with Aaron David and he was nothing but attentive and patient with me. I have to admit I am bit of a freak when it comes to my hair, I always want something different but I never want to cut any length. Aaron was able to give me the perfect balance of a fresh new look without feeling like I lost all my hair. I work around Bucktown and live in the Gold Cost so it is super convenient to see Aaron at both locations.
