Rude Front Desk Clerks
by TRAR39 at Citysearch
I very much like getting my haircut and colored at Spacio. I would give five stars to the stylists. However, the front desk people are quite rude, snooty and short with you. If they want to keep their clientele, they need to learn manners.
Always a wonderful experience

I have never had a problem with Spacio. Their front desk staff has been incredibly friendly and helpful everytime I have visited, I have never experienced anyone rude. I have also really enjoyed every service I have ever had there, but unfortunately I have moved out of the area and have not had a chance to return in a while. But I felt I had to write a review and state that the front desk staff is definitely not always rude! In my experience they have been one of the friendliest and most helful of any spa/salon I have ever visited!
- Pros: Great environment and great staff
- Cons: parking
HORRIBLE HAIRCUT
by citygirl37 at Citysearch
Although the stylist was friendly, I feel like I have received better haircuts at the Hair Cuttery! To me, part of the haircut experience is the shampoo, scalp massage, and blowdry/style. However, my stylist merely straightened my hair, cut it while dry, then sent me out the door! There was NO shampoo, conditioner, massage..nothing! I cannot believe for an upscale salon that I would be out the door in less than 20 minutes. Further, the front desk staff wasn't very friendly as they clearly didn't approve of the tip I was leaving. I would definitely not return to Spacio and would recommend people try the Aveda Institute for $14 where you actually get pampered!!!
Would come back

I think Spacio is a very nice and relaxing environment. I like the ambience and the environment. I was treated professionally and I would definitely go back. I left there feeling relaxed and refreshed.

In Short
Tall windows overlook bustling Halsted Street and allow natural light to flood the modern waiting area. To the left of the receptionist desk is the retail area with brands like Decleor, SkinCeuticalas, Bumble and bumble and Spacio's own private label line. Hushed hallways off to the right lead to tidy treatment rooms where massages, facials and hydrotherapy baths are offered; a full range of hair services and mani-pedis are available as well.
Great Spa with great staff
by rscottm at Citysearch
I have been going to Spacio for over a year. Each time I go I am never disappointed. The service I recieve is the best. The front desk staff always greets me by name. Michael does a great job with my haircuts. My wife also goes to Spacio and gets great manicures and pedicures from Sara and Renee. I also try (time permitting) to get a massage each time I go. Although I have not had a massage by all the massage therapist there, the 2 therapist I have used were excellent. Jake is the best massage thereapist that I have been to. Also, if you have the opportunity to try the hydrotherapy bath and massage they are great.
- Pros: Like that I can get an appointment any day of the week
Snooty Front Desk Staff
by LadyBrett80 at Citysearch
I used to go to Spacio monthly for facials. Many times, I went there for additional services in between my facials. Each time I went there, the staff at the front desk were inexplicably rude and unfriendly. Despite the large amounts of money I was spending at this establishment, I was always treated as though I didn't belong there, and I'm not sure why. It finally got to the point that I could no longer bear the treatment from the snooty front desk staff and I took my business elsewhere. The owners of Spacio need to know that the people they employ to run the front of their business are costing them loyal customers.
Yummy treatments, snooty staff

The treatments and space are decadent, but the staff had "better than you" attitude. No good! If you are in, try the hydrotherapy- so so relaxing!
Ok...I take it back (response to establishment's feedback)

UPDATE 7/7/08: Ok, so there was alot of mixup and controversy over the last visit I had this past June. It is true that someone might have incorrectly booked my future appointment I made months prior to this and I did appreciate the last minute booking. I also appreciated the compensation made when the package I was looking to get wasn't available and when there was a mixup with the actual booking when I was only put down for 2 sessions instead of 3. No doubt I think this establishment does do a wonderful job and not once before have I been disappointed. The controversy here is the parking situation which I think needs some understanding. It's mainly metered parking and with sessions going more the allowed 2 hours I wonder how customers are supposed to pause their sessions just to feed the meter? I knew that I would be out for more than 2 hour so I had someone watch my car. Unfortunately, they missed one payment and I got ticketed. The facility did offer to pay, which I later found out after I wrote the negative feedback they did. The issue is, before I managed to confirm payment the same day I stopped in to ask about the payment, I received a notice from the City the ticket was NOT paid. I was then told about checking the City website for confirmation. Yes, the ticket was paid and I sincerely apologize for the inaccurate comments I made due to the notice I received. However, I do not appreciate the comment that I made a "scene" when I came to question about the notice. All I did was come in and ask to see the manager so we can calmly discuss the matter. Not once did I make a "scene". With this said, I hope we can put this mess behind us and continue to be a clientele of this 1st rate establishment. I do enjoy the services and the friendly staff and I hope to give back the 5 star rating I gave on my 1st visit. Should you decide to terminate business with me, then I apologize that we couldn't come to terms.
- Pros: Place looks brand new, good for groups, professional treatments
- Cons: STREET PARKING, slightly overpriced
Response from this business

We accepted responsibility for the mix up on your appointment and tried to compensate you with a discount and a goody bag filled with products. Our failure to monitor your parking meter was unfortunate. Though it?s not our policy to offer this service, we accepted full responsibility and promptly paid your ticket. It was wrong to accuse us of overcharging you and not paying your ticket. You could have checked the City website and seen the ticket was paid. If you thought you were overcharged you could have contacted us and we would have credited your account if an error had been made. Instead you chose to pay us a visit July 3 where you created a scene in front of customers and staff.
Remember that above all the critic must get his facts straight and his emotions under control before he levels an attack on an establishment and its employees. Otherwise the value of online reviews is greatly diminished and ends up an arena for venting frustration and anger with little regard for truth
