Best Margarita in Chicago!
by BeagleFrenzy
I almost do not want to leave such a good review because then it will get too crowded - but seriosly this is the best margarita I've had in this city so far. We've only tried a few appetizers, but the service is always great and what we've had has been wonderful! We're going back for a full dinner real soon!
Nothing special and very expensive
by debbiem534
We experienced a very expensive but lackluster dining experience Friday Jan. 18th at the Lombard Yorktown location. Very very expensive for the small portions. Taste was nothing special either. Better off almost any other restaurant. Will not return. All 4 of us were VERY dissapointed.
Good Upscale Mexican
by kiki80
Adobo is a great place to start off the night. Great guacamole, tasty margaritas, good food. It is a festive place that is a step (or two) above your typical mexican joint. The tequila flights amke for a fun evening as well-- be careful! Great place for groups.
- Pros: guac, margaritas
- Cons: loud, long waits
Fresh Guacamole
by iamhagel
I was told they have the best guacamole before I went, and I have to agree it is the best I have had. As a plus they make it fresh right in front of you. The tortilla soup was a little spicy but very good. Everyone else I was with enjoyed their meals. Good drink selection too. If you are planning on going to Second City for the night I suggest eating dinner here.
- Pros: Guacamole
Get the guacamole!

I love this place. The margaritas are to die for, and the tableside guacamole is the best. The portion size is just right, and the restaurant has a unique take on typical Mexican food. So good!
Not Typical Chicago Mexican
by jlh67
We are frequent diners at Adobo and find the food to be very tasty and fresh. Typically we will just order a bunch of the app's and some spicy gucamole and skip the entrees. The appetizer menu is large with great variety and interesting items that you don't find at most Chicago Mexican restaurants and the portion sizes are great to share. This makes for a great, fun meal for lunch or dinner and of course you must have the margaritas. One of the freshest in town. Try it, you'll like it! It's not just tacos, burritos and enchiladas at Adobe Grill! Desserts are quite tasty too if you have a sweet tooth.
- Pros: Great Menu & Marg's
- Cons: Challenged Parking unless you valet for $10
Best Restaurant in Chicago!
by kaylie26
I take EVERYONE that visits me in Chicago to Adobo. Service is always excellent.... the food is always fabulous..... and the margaritas are the best in Chicago. The guacamole is a MUST!
- Pros: Guacamole, Decor, Value
- Cons: Parking
Bad entrees
by annreese
Portions are small and the mole with roast pork WAS rubbery as someone else mentioned and the sauce was SO bland!!! The wait staff seemed preoccuppied and they didn't check in with us as often as they should have - almost rude. I'm not running back there, but too bad cause the decor is way above average.
- Pros: Decor
- Cons: entrees
From guacamole prepared at the table to more than 90 different tequilas, this upscale Mexican eatery has much to offer.

The Scene
Adobo's ambience is warm; the crowd is loud, young and professional. The exposed-brick walls are accented by sun-drenched Southwestern colors, bright artwork and two beautiful vintage bars. Conveniently located adjacent to Piper's Alley, Adobo is ideal for dining before heading to Second City or an art flick.
The Food
Hits on the regional Mexican menu include succulent and fiery grilled baby octopus, and delicate trout steamed in a corn husk. Moist, chicken breast holds its own in a dense, Oaxacan black mole with epazote-infused black beans. Fresh guacamole is prepared tableside (with customized spice level), a perfect blend of classic ingredients served in the rustic molcajete bowl. At brunch, the atmosphere is mellower, and you can choose from satisfying egg dishes like huevos rancheros and chilaquiles. Start that diet tomorrow--desserts are worth the indulgence. Chocolate tamale is heavenly, served in a corn husk; chilled lime souffle is equally well-received.
- Pros: excellent Mexicancharming room
- Cons: loud
Go for the Guac, Stay for the Drinks!
by erocka83
Everything tastes good at Adobo Grill. You get a taste of some authentic Mexican flavors for a reasonable price. The best thing there is the guacamole, made fresh to order and you determine how spicey you want it. Also go for the margaritas which are amazing! Not very many vegetarian options but still worth it for some great tastes.
- Pros: Guacamole, Margaritas, Atmosphere
- Cons: Parking, Few Vegetarian Option
