pricy but good

Excellent food and atmosphere. Nice outdoor eating area overlooking river.
Very Happy to find this gem of a restaurant in my new neighborhood. After living downtown and growing used to a certain level of quality and service
- Pros: food , music
that girl/guy is a liar
by solfly
I go to green dolphin and have an absolutely great time... its a great club with very nice people. Its not trashy at all, I mean its a club your suppose to dress fun and have fun. That person who commented earliar is probably a loser if they think that about green dolphin..... At every club you get a few drunk perves. Why? Maybe because there drinking duh!! Okay I agree with the gymshoes inapproaite...but otherwise love green dolphin ..its not trashy at all.
WORST CLUB EVER!
by Jessi21
Okay so I went to Green Dolphin last Saturday (club).... First of all they charge $20.00 to get in which it is not worth at all. 1) Trashy!!!!!!! 2) Trashy 3)Trashy!!!!!!!!!
People dress so scrubby, I seen some people with gym shoes. Yuck! People are rude and guys are perves and they have a tendency to grab what they are not supposed to!
I don't understand how can you charge $20 for admission, this club should just be called "The Trashy clowns" and it should just let the homeless in might as well because they sure will blend in with the people anyway!
I will never ever go there again!
- Pros: NONE
- Cons: TRASHY PEOPLE
I Had an AMAZING time! Highly Recommended on Friday Nights!
by LJ360
Hello everyone, this is my first time writing a review but anyway my 1st time every going to green dolphin street was this past Friday and I had so so so much fun! I could say this was my 1st time every enjoying myself to the fullest going to a club. I didn't know it was actually a restaurant until reading the other reviews but I went after the restaurant hrs were over but the atmosphere was excellent, it was spacious through out the club and there were about 5 bars and 3 different areas of the club played different music so the atmosphere was never boring. The main dance floor did get kind of extra crowded but it was still fun and they even opened up the VIP area for everyone. And people don't take forever to show up, there was a line out the door @ 11:30 when I arrived and it stays open til 4 AM. I would recommend anyone to go to this club on a FRIDAY night if you want to have a good time, young or middle-aged, and don't have to worry about it being super crowded, rude people or annoying men or women. BUT be prepared to spend money on drinks, they all average about $10 a piece and that's just for reg. drinks ex: long island ice tea or remy and coke.
- Pros: The atmosphere and the ample amount of bars
- Cons: Having one of the coat checks in the ladies bathroom
Horrible experience
by emulleniii
Steak was raw and came back hard as a hockey puck after being sent back. Despite telling waiter we were in a hurry and wanted to see the show, food took forever and they did everything they could to sell us more despite knowing we were in a hurry, including after i gave mycredit card to close out the tab. convinced by hostess to have dinner in the dining room so we could get in to see the show and then told it was too crowded and we had to sit in adjacent room and see the show from a distance. $1,000 for a SH#$ty MEAL and bad view of the show. hated it. never go back and tell everyone to stay away.
Pefect Venue to Bring a Date
by okichich
I had made reservations there for Valentines Day. This was one of the most outstanding meals I have ever eaten in my life! The service was equally outstanding; and let's not forget the convenience of walking into the next room after dinner and listening to some great Jazz.
- Pros: Great Food, Better Music
- Cons: can be expensive (along with any other good restaurant in this city)
Mediocre food at best...
by silvana
Last week I ate at this restaurant and found it to be only of average quality for the price. First, service was friendly, but very slow. My friend found a hair in her Coke. My New York stip streak was tasty, but tough and very grissely. The steamed asparagus was tough and appaeared to be canned, not fresh. My sister ordered a cheese and fruit plate, which was missing the fontina cheese that the menu said it had and the cheddar was dried out. I ordered the white cake with blackberries, mascarpone and lemon ice cream. The cake was so dry that I thought it was several days old. It was actually stale and there was no mascarpone accompanying it. I ended up leaving it on the plate. Although some things were good, the overall experience was mediocre at best. I won't be eating here again and I doubt I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone.
- Pros: great potatoes, great lamb, steaks are fair.
- Cons: slow service, some food isn't very fresh or good.

BAD SERVICE
by johnjun
We threw a bachelor party for a friend of ours at this place. We had confirmation but when we arrived the bouncers didn't have a clue. We told them to get the list, didn't know who had it, we told them to get the manager, they wouldn't. Well suffice to say this ruined my friends bachelor party, we had to wait in line, pay full price and when we got in we talked to the manager and we were on the list. No champaing, no private booth, we got in later than we expected. NEVER, EVER AGAIN
- Pros: NONE
- Cons: Need New Staff
A sprawling, high-class supper and jazz club that's risen far from its junkyard roots.

In Short
The spruced-up dining room seems worlds away from the frenetic club. A coat of chartreuse softens the exposed brick walls. Dark, cushy banquettes and white-clothed tables encircle the square room. With its raised stage, long bar and expensive sound system, the club has all the makings of a Chicago classic. But if you actually want to hear the music, bring an ear trumpet, sit up front, and don't even think of going Thursday through Saturday.
