Bizarre service, terrible thin-crust pizza

by truthteller222

I am writing this in the heat of the moment. I've gone to Bacino's intermittently over the last decade, and generally been satisfied. However, last night, the waitress put our order for a stuffed pizza in as a thin-crust pizza, and then profusely "apologized" when she brought out the thin crust pizza, and it was clearly overcooked -- she was amazed that she got it wrong, since she clearly remembered what our order was. The crust was much too dry and flat, the spinach on top was slightly burned, et cetera. We did our best to try to eat it -- which was, of course, not even the pizza we ordered -- but it tasted like a baked saltine with cheese and tomato paste on it. When we asked her to take it back because it was inedible, rather than apologizing for wasting our time, she made a big deal about how she was only going to charge us for the root beers we had ordered (but which had not been drunk yet, because we were waiting for the pizza). As we left, the manager snarkily said, "I'm sorry that you didn't like the pizza", to which I explained that he was welcome to try the overcooked pizza we were given and that I'd be very surprised if he didn't find it equally inedible. He insisted that he has their pizza "all the time", and treated me as though I were a little bit stupid or slightly crazy. Anyway, I've never had a bad stuffed pizza there, and -- over the years -- I've had some perfectly okay thin-crust pizza there -- but the management philosophy that gets an order wrong, and just shoos unsatisfied customers away is not what I would expect in a recession, and it is just too risky to waste money on such an unsatisfactory experience. Better off walking a bit and going to Brick's.

  • Pros: their stuffed pizza can be delicious
  • Cons: Incompetent self indulgent waiter, snarky manager

Best Stuffed Pizza!

by chitown_buckeye

This is my favorite Chicago-style pizza! It is way better than the typical Chicago favorites, such as Giordano's, Unos, etc. No lines, great food/beer, good prices!

  • Pros: Food, beer, price, service
  • Cons: Ambience

They Deliver

by phillie717

This is a good place for pizza especially for parents staying at Childrens Memorial as they deliver. If you need to escape the hospital its not a far walk either. The pizza is delicious and you can get a pitcher of beer to relax your nerves.

  • Pros: Delivery
  • Cons: Parking

Casual, family-friendly pizza restaurant is a favorite for spinach pies and pasta dishes.

Twist on Chicago Style

by JackShay_Citysearch

You feel a little better about yourself after eating Bacino's than you would at Gino's East, Unos and co. because they bake their pizzas. Not greasy, not crowded and super-good. They have more varieties of beer than pizza, which is a good thing depending on your style.

  • Pros: Healthier
  • Cons: Limited menu
