I love this place. Really friendly staff and good coffee. What can I say? Try The Sun Also Rises. AMAZING. Nice find for sure.
The Pig is AMAZING
by scotthudson
I love this place. Charming setting, amazing food that is always fresh. The owner is really nice too. Very friendly. He treats everyone like he knows them for years. Check it out. Have lunch or a breakfast burrito. SO Good. Best food in that neck of the woods!
- Pros: Great place to people watch...
- Cons: A little crowded on weekends...
Amazing, amazing, amazing!!
by petersmokehouse
Check out the Pig. It has amazing food and an outdoor patio that can't be beat in the warmer months. The food is always healthy and fresh. The baristas are really friendly and give really friendly service. I love going there just to hand out and watch all the other folks....very good for people watching. I work around the Pig and just learned they deliver. Good to know. Pretty cool.
Lincoln Park's Crown Jewel
by theloniousjoe
The "Pig" as DePaul students affecionately call it is one of this neighborhood's best kept secrets. It's a small cafe in an antique Lincoln Park house with loyal, regular customers that keep coming back for the amazing menu and atmosphere that is truly one-of-a-kind! Dilectable gourmet homemade sandwiches, soups, salads, great breakfast items, ice creams, a treasure trove of homemade baked goods, an enormous list of gourmet teas, and of course, great coffee are what keep this place in business.
During the quiet periods, it's a great place to relax with a coffee and a book, and if you don't have your own to read, they have shelves stocked with them. It's often busy, but never too crowded, and even when it's busy, the service is still great and not too slow.
This place is a must for anyone who enjoys a genuine and unique experience with great food!
- Pros: Atmosphere and Food
- Cons: None
Great place to meet friends!
by mollybo
This little cafe offers excellent coffee and tea, plus healthy hearty salads, and an endless list of tasty sandwiches! It is a great place to hang out with friends for a coffee, or grab lunch to go and head to the beach or park! Be patient though, good things come to those who wait, and they put a lot of love into preparing your food!
- Pros: great salads, excellent and strong coffee
- Cons: be prepared to wait a while for your food
Great Coffee Shop
by aharris24
This is a nice, mellow coffee shop. Good coffee & tea, and a huge selection of tasty salads and sandwiches. Everything about it is nice besides being a little cramped at times and fairly slow service of food items. But well-worth it in my eyes and a very nice change from the cookie cutter coffee shops that we mostly find in the US nowadays.
- Pros: Great variety, mellow atmosphere, unique
- Cons: A litte cramped and slow food service (but made fresh)
Tasty Travels
by jtaylor12345
I just saw the Pig on Rachel Ray's Tasty Travels and stopped in to see what all the fuss was about. It's funny, I've lived in the hood for 3 years but never stopped in until I saw the Pig on the show. So, I popped in for some coffee/lunch and was very impressed. The food was fresh and the coffee was dark - just the way I like it! Check this place out. Staff was friendly and the Pig was impressive. JT

The Pig has great coffee and great food. Service is always super nice and laid back. The Pig is what a coffee shop should be.
Quiet DePaul coffeehouse draws students with tasty sandwiches and intimate ambience.

In Short
This comfortably cluttered hangout boasts a packed bookshelf and a few tables, where students settle in for some serious reading and a jolt of caffeine. The Pig brews four kinds of coffee each day, and there's a dizzying array of espresso drinks available, as well as canned sodas, juices, shakes and house-made root beer. The grub includes pastries, soups, salads and sandwiches, most of which are named after books--like "The Sun Also Rises" (smoked turkey).
