I have never lived in Chicago, but occasionally visit for business and/or visits with friends. I discovered Pequod's after visiting a friend in Lincoln Park and it has been my favorite pizza ever since. I've taken co-workers, friends, and family there when we've been in town. The pizza is unlike any I've ever eaten--it's the best. I don't know what else to say here, other than I've hopped in many a Chicago cab and told them to take me "near Webster and Clyburn" to Pequod's in my southern accent (I've never lived above the Mason Dixon line). That may disqualify me from judging pizza in some people's minds, but I guarantee you that if you eat a pizza at Pequod's, you'll know what I mean. It's been way too long...need to plan a trip.

  • Pros: The greatest pizza I've encountered.
  • Cons: They don't have one in other cities.

Deep dish is excellent. Trademark is no crust, just burned cheese. Trust me, sounds strange, but it is excellent. Thin crust is not good, though. Is very expensive for a pizza joint. ~$25 for a large deep dish delivered.

Pequod's is a bar/pizzeria. The deep dish is EXCELLENT and has a very strong reputation. The beer selection is good as well. It's right across the street from Webster place so it's perfect to go stuff yourself fat and pizza and beer and go watch a movie while you digest slowly.

who is this register girl she was terrible... I went in friday night expecting everyone to be nice and friendly since all me friends have recommended this place to me... I went and got my pick up... the first two girls and the front table helped me right away... one of them went to go check on me pizza she came back and told me it would be five minutes... NO PROBLEM... the other girl asked me if i wanted to seat at the bar while i waited and i ordered a drink the bartender guy was hilarious! then the register girl (the one that looks like a man with a big nose) comes up to me all snobby and asked me if i wanted to pay... there are alot pretier girls in this restaurant and were not walking around thinkning that they were alot better than everyone.. the pizza is expensive but delicious... my fiance and i finished it so quickly... it was just so delicious... all of the employees were great i'm sure we all hate people who think they are better then everyone... maybe it's just me but i despise ugly snobby girls... other then that yes i will go back to pequod's YUMMMMMM

  • Pros: the food was delicious
  • Cons: the register girl was immature and snobby

Pequod's isn't anything fancy - actually, it's a bit "rundown" but that doesn't matter when you're going for great pizza. I'm partial to the pan pizza, so my comments are directed to the pan pizza. The service is quick and the staff is really friendly. Every once in awhile, I order their par baked pizza to cook at home and it always tastes as good as it does in the restaurant.

  • Pros: Great Pizza and General Bar Food, Quick Service, Inexpensive Eats
  • Cons: Parking is sometimes tough

This is one of my favorite pizza places in the city. I enjoy the pan pizza much more than the stuffed "Chicago style" crust. Since the fire, they have definitely cleaned the place up, so it's likely they'll get more customers who were afraid to come in before. Although I didn't mind the "dive" experience that Pequod's used to provide, you can't ignore the fact that the pan pizza is still excellent. The carmelized crust is fantastic. The service can be slow, but consider that part of the relaxing experience. Watch the game. Enjoy the pizza!

  • Pros: Good food, cheap
  • Cons: service can be slow

Pequod's has Chicago's greatest deep dish, hands down. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for it's waitstaff. Each time we have gone to the restaurant, we've found it to be slow and unorganized. We've vowed to stick to delivery. The thin crust pizza is VERY thin, be prepared. The pan pizza is absolutely my favorite-topped liberally with toppings and with a great crust. I would highly recommend this to any fan of Chicago deep dish, and would chose it over the "famous" deep dish places any day of the week!

  • Pros: Great deep dish!
  • Cons: Expensive for pizza, not great waitstaff

NOT the best Chicago pizza. No one can even compare it to NYC thin crust. I ate the thin crust here, not the pan pizza. It was a lot like Ranalli's.

I dont understand why everyone on this site thinks this is great pizza. I dont get it.

Pequod's just isn't the same. Since the reopening, the place looks like starbucks took over pizza hut. The atmosphere is completely dull and the staff is disorganized. What ever happened to the guy in the yankee's cap, the music, the fun, the energy? The pizza has been equally as inconsistent too. I used to sit at the bar for hours eating and drinking, having a blast. Now it is just boring. It is really too bad the fire didn't just burn the building...but the soul of pequods too.

  • Cons: ambience is lame, staff is unenthusiastic, pizza is inconsistent

I've lived in Chicago for 6 years and I've had pizza at basically ever other "Best Of" in the city and Pequods is by far my favorite. I eat there about 2-3 times a month. My girlfriend and I don't even have to order any more they just recognized us when we come in and ask if we want the usual. Good Food, Friendly Service, Good Prices...
