Pool and Reasonable Drinks, what could be better?

by kate8gr8

This is my first review, so obviously I must have liked this place to bother. My roommate and I were looking for a fun bar to hang out in that played great music, had cheap drinks, and a fun crowd. It was starting to look like a tall order until we found Seven Ten. Awesome music (classic rock and all those songs you can sing-a-long to), plus their drink prices are pretty reasonable. Not to mention that they are a White Sox bar on the Northside. We didn't try the food, but for about an hour of pool and six beers, our tab was only $30. The bartenders are friendly, and service is good.

  • Pros: Music, drinks, service
  • Cons: Wait for bowling, small crowd

Amazing! Especially after drinking 25yr Scotch at Delilah's, just up the block.

We had a great time at this place!

Although we were "tourists," we were hanging out with our local friends...therefore, we had fun bowling and drinking at a reasonable price.

The one thing you MUST KNOW before you go is how to score by hand because they do not have the television screens, or that normal ball return that you see at AMF. This is OLD SCHOOL, as it should be. Fortunately, I took a bowling class in college, so we didn't have any problems scoring the game (I got a B on my final, and did well on the bowling score section).

So yeah, I recommend it to everyone!

Why choose between a bar and a bowling alley? Here you get both.

by Contributor

The Scene
While the bartender pulls you a pint, ask him to pull down a pair of size 9s from the array of bowling shoes shelved behind the art deco-style bar. Even if you don't bowl, Lucky Strike is a good place to cool your heels with the 30 beers on tap (plus 40 in bottles) and every type of alcohol imaginable.

The Lanes
Four of the eight mechanical lanes are open on a first-come, first-served basis, while the other four are in a private party room, available to the general public if not reserved. If the hardwood looks well-worn for an alley that opened in 1995, it's because it was purchased from a 50-year-old alley in Indiana. Before your lane opens you can wander through the bar's five rooms or shoot pool at a handful of regulation tables. Or stare at the '20s-era mural, which adds a touch of nostalgia.

boring & overdone

by ratpita

Trying to take in this place is too much work. Nothing is organized in an easy flow, plus it costs a fortune. The food is good, but it isn't difficult to make good burgers & sandwiches.

What ever happened to a great bowling alley joint.

  • Pros: staff is nice
  • Cons: no parking, long waits, very expenxive

Lucky Strike is far more comfortable than your average bowling alley, and the other lovely rooms only add to the experience!!! Great place to hang out any night of the week. Good food and nice staff.

  • Pros: clean, affordable, comfortable
  • Cons: bigger would be nice

struck by luck...

by mark_kuo

having lived in the area for years, and tried the various bowling alleys, I've always found Lucky Strike to provide the best atmosphere for knockin down pins. From food, people, music, and just overall atmosphere, it's the best in my book.

Not just for bowling

by slambert78

Lucky Strike really isn't just a bowling alley. They have some of the best burgers in the city (everything thing else on the meny is great as well) and a good, laidback crowd after work and on the weekends. The pool tables are in excellent condition and the tinned ceilings, solid oak walls and railed bar add an air of class to an otherwise very low-key atmosphere. I love this place! Check it out if you're looking to hang out and play some pool in a place that's not a dive and not too prim and proper!

  • Pros: Menu, atmosphere, service
  • Cons: wait on lanes, lots of parties, parking
