I took two bridesmaid dresses in one that wouldn't be too much work and another that was two sizes too big and very detailed. I had no clue how anyone would have made it not only fit me but look good too. I was amazed when I went back to pick them up because they were both amazing. They fit like a glove and you would never be able to guess that the one dress was two sizes too big. They did such a great job and are very very nice so I would strongly recommend them and will certainly be going back!!

This is a very small shop-European. Very creative and friendly, staff is helpful and attentive. Tailors want to do the job correctly and monitor each other. Ordinary alterations are a breeze-more complex challenges don;t phase them. Bespoke work is of very high quality-well designed and realised. Highest recommendation.

I had Sew Special make my daughter's Baptism gown. I explained to them that I wanted something simple yet pretty, with some lace, and not to long. What I got was a beautiful gown for my daughter that far exceeded my expectations!!!! It was beautiful and and more elegant than I imagined. My daughter was the most beautiful baby there. I highly recommend Sew Special to everyone that I know. They do exceptional work, and have the most friendliest people.

SEW SPECIAL..... that is a perfect name for this busniess!!!!! The work done here is not only special but terrrfic. May and Mike do an outstanding job of fitting each garment to the body type. They exhibiit expert craftmanship in their work. I have been a customer for the past 15 or so years and in all that time,the work done for me has been outstanding!!! I never have to worry if something will fit me. I know that it will in the expert hands of May and Mike . Therefore ,my recommendation for SEW SPECIAL and the oustanding tailoring work of May and Mike is 5 stars.... !

I recently bought my first linen suit and wanted it custom fitted. I’ve never had a suit fitted before and after researching online I decided to check out Sew Special Custom. The whole experience from start to finish was very pleasant and professional. Everyone I dealt with seemed genuinely concerned with the outcome of my suit. I will say I paid more than I expected too, but quality comes at a price. My suit had major work done on the coat pockets (had to move 3 pockets), but you would never tell anything was done to it. Their craftsmanship is quite apparent. If you value quality, and understand the saying ‘you get what you pay for’, these folks are a great choice for custom tailoring; very friendly, greatly skilled, and highly professional.

I came from france for a wedding and I had a dress that wasn't finshed and had horrible flaws. So i was reccommended this place and over a couple of weeks, they made a miracle. the dress was long and have a lot of lace and i know it took a lot of work and dedication. the people there were friendly and professionnal. The staff is talented and now i look much better in this dress. so this is a place i highly recommend!! now i got a perfect dress ............thanks a million.

I bought this jacket in Europe a year ago and I like it so much and I wanted a replica of it. I have searched high and low in the city of Chicago and found this unpretentious shop. The mature lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful. I entrusted my jacket and the fabric that I bought to them. After a few weeks, I got a call from them that my jacket is ready for fitting and pick up. I was a little nervous at first, as soon as I took the plastic cover. Wow!!! I got the exact replica of the jacket. I tried it on and the size is a perfect fit. Now I am in search of a good fabric because I will be going back to this shop to have another 2-3 jackets tailored again.

I brought my wedding dress to Sew Special after a bad experience with another seamstress. I was desperate, running out of time and very worried. When I dropped my dress off at Sew Special, a very sweet lady behind the counter just smiled and said: "Don't worry, they'll do a good job." And good job they did. They fixed my dress and it was a perfect fit! They're very knowledgeable, experienced and if you ask me for a seamstress recommendation, go to Sew Special Tailors!

Pros: knowledgeable staff, great customer service, great alterations!

Cons: parking is a little tough around there but still possible

I take all my dry cleaning to Sew Special. It's hard to find someone who handles your clothes the way you want.
