Exclusively devoted to teaching kids the value of studying and playing music.

The Venue
The school's Armitage Avenue location is now the Children's Center, and it's a concert venue unlike any other. Acts are performed on the same minimal stage where music classes gather and play for each other at the end of each semester. Bands are freed from the grandiose musical gestures that come with performing to a huge crowd and tend to be more relaxed and informal, often telling stories between songs. It's the antithesis of a rock concert: no light show, a clear but not painful sound system and a great view of the performers no matter where you sit.
Extras
Beverages and basic snacks (chips and cookies) are available in the lobby during school hours and performances. Just to the left of the lobby is Little Strummer, the school's music shop specializing in musical instruments and sheet music for kids. It's not as crammed as it was when the store was Different Strummer (now at Old Town's new adult-class location on Lincoln Avenue), but there's still a good selection of products.
