This zoo is amazing because you can literally be standing there staring at the animals and have the unique experience of seeing the Chicago skyline behind them. It's small, but you can definitely spend a few hours wandering around. The orangatung house is great, especially if you are lucky enough to go often, as they have had many births over the past few years and its fun to watch the progress of the young ones. The only drawback is the parking situations and the hordes of school children.
- Pros: free admission, easy to get to
- Cons: parking is difficult

This zoo had many exotic animals. It was very benefical for me in particular, because i got to see my favorite animal, which is a Lion. Everytime I take my kids they want to go back the next week, because they are taken back by the variety of animals.
- Pros: Great place to take your kids
- Cons: Not enough parking

One of the best place to be in Chicago. It's clean, friendly, and safe oh and yes it's free! Can't ask for a better time. Animals have access to both indoor cages, private room, and outdoor leaving areas. Seems some people didn't realize that.

If you are looking to achieve exercise while being highly entertained stroll through the LP Zoo. There are a plethora of types of animals to view. Not to mention this is a great atmosphere if you have kids.
good? free. bad? where are the animals and why are the cages so small

we had a great time at the zoo...and i must admit it's nice to not have to actually pay for admission. but you wonder if they could charge people $5 or $10 they could actually make a decent living space for the animals. the poor leopard was literally pacing angrily back and forth in its 20 foot wide cage. i hope it only spends a couple hours in there a day...it's truly sad to see these beautiful animals living like that.
Kid-friendly and free, this zoo is one of Chicago's favorite family attractions.

Facts
This 35-acre animal attraction in Lincoln Park makes the A-list of family activities--not only because it's entertaining, but also because it's free. Open year-round, the zoo is bordered on the south by Cafe Brauer, where families can eat drippy ice cream cones and take paddleboat spins around South Pond, and on the north by the popular Lincoln Park Conservatory and the serene greenery of North Pond.
Features
The zoo's collection began in 1868 with the gift of two swans from New York's Central Park; today patrons can observe playful Siberian tiger cubs, swimming polar bears, great apes, elephants, zebras, giraffes, camels, penguins, tropical birds and much more. Pay attractions on the premises include the Endangered Species Carousel, a 4-D virtual safari, the LPZOO Express and a safari audio tour, plus restaurants (some seasonal) and gift shops.

I love the Lincoln Park Zoo. It is in the heart of the city's north side and it offers everything that a zoo can...not to mention that it is free! It is so open and fun to take kids to.

I have always enjoyed visiting this zoo, I just don't care for the traffic in getting there. Although this has been a wonderful zoo to visit and doesn't require as much walking as Brookfield, I have been concerned about all the deaths of many animals there. The membership packages they offer don't offer too many deals, but I will still return to the zoo.

If you can find parking on the nearby streets, you've got a day of free entertainment ahead of you. Otherwise, the cost of parking is too bad. This zoo is right off Lake Michigan in downtown Chicago and it is amazing. The kids love coming here to see the monkeys and gorillas. They also have plenty of other animal exhibits to keep you busy for the day. Plus, kids can ride their giant carousel and visit the petting farm.

Going to the zoo for the day will be a great experience for you and your family. First off, you can't beat that it's free admission! You do pay to park though. And the animal exhibits are great. I've always enjoyed checking out the seals! My favorite! I also like where the zoo is located; right by the lake and in the middle of the city hustle and bustle. It's a great get-away.
