Don't go there for the cake

The staff we friendly, but cake was terrible. If you want bland and dry this is the place for you. Our wedding venue offers a discount if you use Rolf's for the cake, but if I'm going to pay hundreds of dollars for a cake I'd rather serve something that people will eat, rather than serving something that will look pretty, but be thrown out at the end of the night.

Great Service and delicious choices

I was recommended to visit this bakery by Kathy at Kasia's Bridal for my wedding cake. I called and asked for Fabiloa (as suggested by Kathy) however, she was not available. I did end up visting with Joanne. My visit was very informative. I was able to have a tasting with my finace and mother. I'm very happy to have made my appointment here. We did purchase a few of their delicious concoctions out of their cases to take home, we even were able to purchase a miniture cake with the flavor we chose for our wedding, which came in handy as we had guests coming over inthe evening, so we were able to get a consencous on taste. We all definitely enjoyed the selection and flavors. I felt like I was eat delicious imported european pasteries! Highly recommended. I will update my review after our wedding.

When good places go bad

Rolf's used to make the best chocolate cake ever. Then, about a year ago, I bought one for a family gathering and was so disappointed to find that it was just terribly dry and stale. I decided to give them another chance last week, hoping it was just a fluke. Same thing this time, just really mediocre and dry. I could have made a Duncan Hines cake myself for a fraction of the price that would have tasted ten times better. So disappointing.

Wedding Galor

I recently used Rolfs for my wedding cake and i highly recommend it. To be honest the only dislike was that the designs were a bit dated but you can take a picture and the Chef will create the design just as it is shown. The cake choices were superb and you can sample with or without the filling. The process was made very pleasent and enjoyable by the cake consultant. She was amiable to work with. My cake turned out exquisite, i really did not expect less.

Special and Sweet

I had a special 1st birthday for my daughter and i went to Rolf's for the cake, i will never go else where. The young lady who helped me was very detailed and helped me create the cake i was envisioning. The cake had 3 round tiers with different colors on each of them. It was the perfect center of attention and one of the main focal points of the party. Besides the colors there were details on each tier that were also different, each tier represented my daughters favorite t.v. character. The order was placed the same week of my party and Rolf's pulled it off! I will be a customer for years to come.

Best bakery...period!

Rolf's is the best! We have used Rolf's 5-6 times and every time has been fantastic. (Their whip cream cakes are awesome!) The events we have held have been for no less than 30 people and they still produce a quality product. We have referred our neighbors many times and they have had the same result. In addition, the service has been top notch. They have gotten every detail right and the cakes have been ready when they say they will be ready. How refreshing. If you want great baked goods made with quality ingredients (The fresh fruit in the whip cream filling...whoa!!!!) with great service, Rolf's is the only place to call.

• Cons: Not a one.

hidden gem

I work in a hotel downtown and have been in the industry a long time. A friend who is also in the business had referred me to Rolf's Patisserie initially for a new wedding cake vendor. I can't tell you how happy my customers and myself have been since we have made the transition over to them. Not only are their products some of the best I have ever seen and tasted, they are extremely reasonable. Now I use them for just about everything: wedding cakes, pastries, b-day cakes, sculpted cakes, etc. They are located just north of the city, not a far ride at all and well worth the stop. Customer service has also been a treat, it seems to be one of the hardest things to find with new vendors, they pay very close attention to detail and have key people responsible in the different departments. Check them out, you will not be disappointed!!!

Beautiful cakes that taste delicious, too!

We recently celebrated my parents 50th wedding anniversary and got the most elegant cake from Rolf's.

Everyone at the party loved the cake and said the buttercream was the best they've ever tasted!

The cake was so beautiful, it was a centerpiece on its own. The staff at Rolf's was very helpful and knowledgeable. too. I will definitely order from Rolf's again!

Over priced and low quality - keep looking - you will find better else where

I'm not sure why there are any positive reviews of Rolf's. The cakes are not even of caliber you would find in the local Dominick's, Jewel or at Costco. If this is for a wedding, birthday or celebration that you are accountable for the quality, then you should spend a few more minutes searching online for a better facility. There are a number of very good backeries in the Chicagoland area and there is no reason to settle for a second rate (or worse) place like this.

• Cons: Over priced, dry, not capable of even the most modest designs

AWFUL!

I recently visited Rolf's and was very disappointed. I bought a cake for a birthday and it wasn't fresh at all. They told me that the pre-made cakes were fresh and were not sitting around. Well, I definitely don't believe that! My guests didn't want to tell me, but i know they didn't enjoy it. It was very embarrassing. I would not recommend Rolf's.
