Mixed bag but great for families
by sjschicago
Without a doubt, this club is the best in the city for families with children. Whereas many clubs put unreasonable restrictions on accessiblity to children with their parents, the Lincoln Park lakeshore goes out of its way to make kids feel welcome and also offers a large number of classes and activities specifically for kids. There is, for example, a large upstairs pool that is available to children most hours of the day, and several private changing rooms/showers on the same level for use by kids and their parents. They also accomodate babysitters who bring kids in to swim without extra charge.
The many young singles who also belong to the club don't seem to mind the large number of children, a fact that other health clubs in the city could learn from.
- Pros: Family friendly -- Kids pool and activities.
- Cons: Locker rooms could use and update
This enormous, versatile health club is the perfect remedy for Chicago's unpredictable weather.

The Scene
Inside this massive fitness warehouse, families, young professionals and cross trainers exercise in style. While mostly windowless, the clean, state-of-the-art facility fills four floors and a rooftop--personable staff included. An on-site spa provides a full menu of services including massage, pedicures, manicures and detoxifying wraps.
The Workout
Two pools, two exercise studios, Spinning, racquetball and squash courts, eight tennis courts, a weight room, cardio equipment, a gymnasium and a quarter-mile track. More than 100 classes are offered weekly--like boxing, cardio sculpt and yoga. Tennis pros and personal trainers can always help improve your game. Kids aren't left out, thanks to several exercise programs just for them. When temperatures rise, the rooftop shines--play tennis, paddle tennis or basketball, or just lounge on the sundeck or at the snack bar. Membership options include reciprocity with three other clubs.
great classes, dilapidated gym
by tashie
When the running room is full it is a sweatbox. It could use cleaner, bigger and updated locker rooms...gross! If you are there at 11am on Saturday where sandals.
Classes are really great. Swimming pool is wonderful.
- Pros: pool
- Cons: , toilets, atmosphere

Run Like A Cash Cow
by mattpercy
i've been a member for four years, and this gym has gone downhill to the point that you'd have to be a sucker to stay or join. (i'm leaving for a new gym at the end of the month). problems include: unclean lockers, terrible service, overpriced, lack of parking, a management that treats this place like a cash cow, obnoxiously loud and overbearing trainers. In the midst of all these problems, management continues to jack up the price. Other lakeshores are somewhat better; this has become the most overpriced and overrated gym in chicago.
- Cons: Overcrowded, Dirty, Parking never availab
