Dr. Wax's four Chicagoland stores remain true to the neighborhood-centric attitude of the city. The only real similarity among the locations is a penchant for disheveled stacks of unmarked merchandise peppering the nooks and crannies of the stores. At the Hyde Park location, wax and CDs of both the latest in hip-hop and the most prized of old-school jazz fill rack after rack, bin upon bin. The encyclopedist in either genre could spend hours at this Dr. Wax, despite the relatively small size of the room. All musical fringes are represented in the new releases section, to your left as you enter.
