One of the city's best music venues
by DrinksCoffee
This is really an incredible place to see a show at. They have two rooms - the concert hall and a bar next door. The admission in the bar is almost always free. The concert hall admission varies depending on which acts are performing on specific nights. I like the Abby because its easy to see the stage and hear the band from anywhere in the club. Drinks are pretty cheap too.
- Pros: Easy to see and hear any show you attend
- Cons: Its hard to find if you've never been there before
Large, Celtic-flavored music venue on the North Side boasts the warmth and pleasures of a cozy pub.

The Scene
Stone walls and blond-wood floors lend a homey feel; seating is divided between a main floor and a U-shaped balcony upstairs. Full-service dining complements the pub's music and sports events.
The Draw
Since the mid-1970s, big names in Celtic music have performed, and now the concert menu has expanded to include a who's who of indie acts. Prefer sports? A 15-foot television and 14 monitors throughout the bar carry satellite broadcasts of international soccer and rugby matches. A dozen drafts and even more bottled brands give patrons plenty of beer choices; a full menu of Irish and American food provides solid eats, from munchies to entrees and desserts. The Abbey also hosts one of the best St. Patrick's Day celebrations--if you can get in; the line usually stretches around the block.
Fenians, Prodigals, great food/drinks

Been to Abbey pub many times for Irish groups like The Fenians, Prodigals, Seven Nations, and others. Owners, Looney family, run a great place and recently redid the music room. Huge variety of beer and drinks...great menu too! My husband proposed to me there with The Fenians in 2001 so it is one of my top places!
- Pros: Variety, entertainment, atmosphere
- Cons: , not cheap, crowded (weekends)
