Disappointing Deja vu

by renepf at Citysearch

I hadn't been to Salad Spinners for about 2 1/2 years because I didn't think it was a very good value and the quality wasn't consisent. But, today I was looking for a change from the "same old, same old" loop lunch spots, and thought I would Salad Spinners another try. Well, I was disappointed again. While the quality of the food was fine, it was served in a pressed cardboard container and stale pita bread. Not real appealing. It was more expensive than other near-by salad spots, and the cashier handed me a plastic bag with one napkin and pushed me along to take the next customer's money. I'll go back in another couple of years and try it again.

  • Pros: quality ingredients; many choices
  • Cons: crowded, not a good value, not customer friendly

A little overwhelming

by NikkiGray at Citysearch

I actually went to the Lake & Franklin location. This was my first time there and it was good and fresh, just a little overwhelming. I felt everything happened really fast and I had to decide immediately on what I wanted. I had a salad with the four toppings, but it was hard to see all the topping options. I grabbed a menu and looked it over after I sat down. There were options available that I didn't know that I had while ordering. The staff was helpful, but there were so many people working I didn't know who had my salad.

I would definilty go back, the restaurant was very clean and the food was good. I will just have to be a little more prepared next time.

Corporate diners duck in for a fresh-made salad or sandwich before heading back to the grind.

In Short
The space is clean, casual and comfortable, with colorful walls and plenty of seating. Create a "dream salad" or choose one of 10 signature vegetarian salads like Italian, Greek and Oriental Express; then add protein, such as grilled chicken, steak, ahi tuna and lobster tail. The Mexicali salad brims with corn, black beans, white cheddar and tomatoes. The menu also offers sandwiches, plus breakfast items like waffles and omelettes.
