Just "OK"
by AggBatt
This place is just "OK". It's nothing special, as we are led to believe by all the other reviewers. The food was certainly edible, and the service was fine, but there is nothing extraordinary about this restaurant at all.
Breakfast done right
by chicago14
We live in River West and found this place. A hidden gem. Off the beaten path but well worth seeking out! Ok, the pink is overwhelming and old but the staff is great, pleasant and most important - the food is off the chart for great inexpensive breatkfast food. Large portion, large omelettes and a very extensive menu. Drinks, bloody marys and the finest of Mimosa for breakfast hits the spot! This is a great place to enjoy breakfast with your significant other, friends or just alone with a paper to relax! Love this place.
- Pros: Everything
- Cons: Its pink
best local diner in the West Loop!! Hands down.
by sauganashkid
This place has the best breakfast food/lunch menu in the West Loop. It is classic Chicago dining and if the service is a little slow so what. The reviewer(chicago60614)should really get a life leaving bad feedback for such a fine establishment-go to a fine dining restaurant if you're going to nitpick about the service. The homemade chicken noodle soup is awesome and the eggs, burgers, hash, etc. are delicious.
- Pros: classic Chicago fare done right
- Cons: none!

Probably The Worst Service For A Restaurant This Good
by chicago60614
I really like the food at this place. It is by far one of my favorite breakfast places in Chicago. The only problem is I have to convince people to go because the service is so bad. People have to be willing to take forever to eat.
When I say bad service I don't mean people are rude or unpleasant. The staff is very nice, they just have no idea what they are doing. Refills can be impossible, it could take 20 minutes to order, they argue over who has what table, etc, etc. This is when it is slow too. When it is busy........you almost have to laugh.
Again, the food is great. If they could even just have pretty bad service, it would be a huge improvement and it would be packed at all times. Sorry Breakfast Club. Great food, but whoever knows the kitchen needs to show the front of the house some things too. I give the food 4 stars and the service 0.
- Pros: Great breakfast food and proof you are healthy if you live long enough to actually get it
- Cons: Service. They should just convert to a buffet to eliminate the servers
'Good morning' food!
by durdu_lica
I like the pink walls, don't really go for the diner/waitress appearance, but the omelettes were soo good, and so was the OJ,really kept me full all day long. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the scones. All in all, a little bit more expensive than other places, but the 'pink experience' is surely worth it!
The worst service I've ever experienced
by littleloadman
I've eaten at the Breakfast Club numerous times in the past because I live very close by. The food is very good and the price is reasonable. The service is horrible. I've ate there probably 10 times. The first incident I shrugged off, the second time I figured they were just too busy, the third time I realized a pattern, and the last time I walked out. The dining area is too small and I think they just don't care about their customers, because they know that their is 10 more waiting outside. I will never go back, and I'm sure others feel the same way. I give it a 3 because the food is good.
- Pros: the food
- Cons: the service and the wait
Amazing secret breakfast nook!
by byrdiblack
I cant believe i've lived in this neighborhood for 3 years and only just recently found the Breakfast Club! It's hidden on low traffic hubbard street amongst residential homes and warehouses, but when you turn the corner the lady pink awning will wave you down.
The entire place is pink and makes for a cute New York-ish Bed and Breakfasty diner that is a rare find in Chicago.
The food is excellent and fresh! They make their own amaaaaazing scones! They serve Bellini's and Bloody Mary's, their hashbrowns are thick potato slices, excellent service, healthy options, great place to meet with friends and share your bar stories from the night before.
Breakfast lovers dig this comfy, East Village restaurant's down-home cooking.

In Short
Nestled among warehouses and kept homes, this cafe's bubble-gum pink awning is a striking wake-up call. Breakfast dishes like bacon and eggs, blueberry pancakes, and biscuits and gravy attract a pre-work and lunchtime crowd. Cinnamon French toast, cinnamon rolls and fresh-squeezed OJ start days off right. Rotating lunch specials might include herb-crusted pork roast or meat loaf topped with ketchup and served with real mashed potatoes, gravy and boiled green beans.
Pancakes that rock
by MauraYork_Citysearch
My boyfriend and I just ate here on Saturday, and I'm as pleased as ever. It was crowded, but we got a table immediately. Order the pancakes; I got the regular ones, and they were rich and delicious -- maybe they are made with vanilla -- with just a bit of butter. The Breakfast Club is a bit pricier than a diner or chain pancake place, but it is also a homier restaurant. But be sure to bring cash; checks and credit cards are not accepted.
