Exceptional Italian
by WindyCityNewbie
I visited Club Lucky for dinner and was amazed by this little gem of a restaurant in the heart of Bucktown. The 1930's decor, mixed with the to-die-for pasta entree I enjoyed, truly made this restaurant stand out. The owner was also extremely hospitable and welcoming!
- Pros: Four cheese pasta
- Cons: Nada
Amazing! Truly amazing...

I have been there several times recently and continue to be impressed. Club Lucky provides not only high quality Italian food, but excellent, attentive service as well. Everything from the Club Lucky salad to the Sangria is wonderful. I would highly recommend this place to anyone interested in good Italian. The patio is nice as well!
- Pros: Food, drinks, and service
- Cons: not a one
Ambiance makes this place
by donut44
Never thought I would be writing a review about ambiance, but this place has it. It is actually quaint and pretty sure I knew I would never use this word. Still not sure I spelled it right. Either way, I like the atmosphere and my meal was not bad. I didn't pay so I didn't pay attention to price, but the menu was filled with Italian dishes you don't normally see, which was cool. However, apparently they are not big on meat, because the lasagna has no meat, the ravioli has no meat and barely any of the dishes have any meat and no meat sauce. That's all right, I had meat balls and they were good.
Service was good and I would recommend it for the cool atmosphere and good food. They do serve Fresca though!!
- Pros: Ambiance, Not same Italian food, Fresca
- Cons: No meat sauce?
no refills

We go to Club Lucky pretty regularly, mostly for carryout. The food is pretty good, although this past weekend, 2 of us ordered the special (lobster/shrimp in spinach ravioli) and it was barely warm and pretty bland. A big surprise was that they charge for refills on sodas. For a party of 4, we racked up $25 in soda alone...we thought that was pretty unusual, we were disappointed...who does that anymore?
- Pros: selection, dessert
- Cons: refill charges, no reservations

I was at luckys for the first time with my fiance last week. I had the best Italian food since my Grandmas cooking years ago. I would highly recommend this fantastic restaurant to all, I will be back. Sincerly ,Icu29
- Pros: great food, inexpensive
- Cons: none
A lively, cross-generational crowd flocks to this Bucktown mainstay for Italian food in a hip, retro setting.

The Scene
Once a VFW dance hall, this space fondly recalls its 1930s splendor, complete with diamond tile floor, glass block windows, red naugahyde booths and geometrically patterned curtains. Adorned with fantastic, UFO-like light fixtures, the high tin ceiling amplifies conversation and giving the room a spirited vibe. After the kitchen closes, the bar continues to buzz as young, Bucktown locals stop by for expertly shaken martinis.
The Food
Italian favorites come in generous portions that make leftovers inevitable. Lightly breaded fried calamari is a recommended starter; others include fried mozzarella, stuffed artichoke and a vegetarian antipasti. Main courses are split between pasta (meatless lasagna, fettuccine scampi, ravioli) and specialties (lamb chops, chicken Vesuvio, Italian sausage). Veal Parmesan shines, and unusual filet oreganato combines slices of incredibly tender beef with garlic, tomato and generous bites of red and green pepper. Desserts are homemade and win with tiramisu and profiteroles.
- Pros: good Italian food
Perfect for a "Baby, I'm sorry!"

This really is an awesome date place. The cocktails rock, the food is absolutely delish, and it's got killer atmosphere.
You will spend some cash at this place, but it's worth every dime.
If you've been a jerk to your girlfriend and want to make it up, I highly recommend this place. She'll love it and you won't want to claw your own eyes out because of pretentious hipsters.
- Pros: awesome italian, tasty cocktails, neato ambience
- Cons: no parking!, ok, valet parking, not cheap
MY FAVORITE BY FAR!!
by jdj62
Wow! I've been coming to Club Lucky for nearly 10 years. The food is simple Italian comfort food and it is always consistantly very good. When my fiends take me to a different Italian restaurant I am usually dissapointed because they can't measure up to Club Lucky. The martinis in the swanky coctail lounge with the awsome juke box playing is a great time even if you dont want to have dinner. Great Late nite place!
Strongly recomend: Ketel 1 martini with blue cheese olives, grilled calamari, grilled pork chops, chicken vesuvio, Rigatoni with veal meatballs, chocolate cake. Go during the week to avoid huge crowds.
- Pros: Alway great food, outdoor patio, cocktail lounge
- Cons: Crowded weekends, Only $6 valet parking

Went there this SATURDAY, and i thought the food was excellent! The service was fast, but not too fast as to push you out the door. The aroma of home cookingfilled the air. Polite hostess, waitress, and staff made this outing a real pleasure. I can't wait to return with my friends, who appreciate GOOD FOOD!
- Pros: inexpensive, fast service
- Cons: crowded, not too good parking
Is that a martini in your pocket??

or are you just happy to be at Club Lucky! What can I say... I love this place.. my friends love this place... even my parents love this place... It must be the Jukebox full of Frank, the swank atmosphere, the beautiful people, the always consistent great dishes (hint: salmon special), and the dy-no-mite martinis! I don't think blue cheese stuffed olives get any bigger than this!
- Pros: Value, dinner or drinks, fun
- Cons: crowded weekends, small patio dining
