best pizza ever
by BlacKBarBie at Citysearch
the bread is so soft, but the meat is still cooked all the way through, and the sauce oh the sauce is to die for, but don't forget the buttery crust.
- Pros: best crust and sauce
- Cons: non
Pizza at this location is not what it used to be
by sanstro at Citysearch
Even though this is the original location of Home Run Inn, their pizza no longer has the original taste. My family has been eating pizza from the 31st street location since the early sixties, but we finally gave up in June when we got our last pizza that had too much sauce, too little cheese, toppings that separated from the crust, and was overbaked. For the excellent original Home Run Inn pizza, go to the Archer location.
- Pros: parking lots
- Cons: not the expected quality of the brand name pizza

Party Spot
by vivaciousdivah at Citysearch
Home Run Inn is the spot in Chicago for hanging out with friends and family, as well as hosting parties. Almost every time I go I am with a huge group for a girls get-together or a wedding rehearsal dinner. Whatever the occasion, the pizzeria can handle it all. Best to setup a reservation for big parties and on weekend evenings. Love the menu selection from types of pizza, to pasta, to chicken. Fits every mood, every appetite.
HORRIBLE PIZZA ! I FELT LIKE I WAS CHEWING ON RUBBER INSTEAD OF CHEESE
by dbzforever at Citysearch
Everyone has different taste but I was shocked and really disappointed to find out that this was voted #1 in Chicago. I came to Chicago for the weekend. I was born and raised in New York and have had excellent pizza all over the country but when I tried a slice from Home Run Inn Pizza, I thought that I was eating pizza from Chuck E Cheese or Little Caesar except that theirs tastes better.
Trust me I've been to the best of them and this one doesn't even come close. I couldn't finish the slice. The cheese was like rubber. I haven't tried the other pizzerias in the Chicago area but I am looking forward to going to a couple of the other ones like Gino's.
This pizza is good for kids or for people that have never tried REAL PIZZA.
- Pros: None
- Cons: They actually lead you to believe that their pizza is good when it's below average. Stick to Little Caesar
Some of the best pizza in town is served up at this low-key South Side hangout.

In Short
The original location of this local pizza chain, this place is famous for its hand-tossed pizza (the only style offered); it hasn't changed much since the '40s. Other offerings include pastas, soups, sandwiches and salads brimming with greens, dried cranberries, bacon, olives, sunflower seeds and more.

Take out a second mortgage to afford the pizza
by lkonieczny at Citysearch
Tastes just slightly better than their frozen pizza. So expensive I rarely go there. This one is in a bad neighborhood. Ones in Darien and garfield ridge are nicer but they rob you with their prices.
- Pros: Crust is tasty
- Cons: Too expensive
