Cute place, Great food!
by tangy215
This place is just great! It's a quaint little restaurant on the corner with great ambiance! Everything we ordered was prepared with care and was a pleasant change from the usual breakfast places. The Sweedish spin on breakfast made it especially interesting. The fresh squeezed OJ, cinnamon roll and quiche were all excellent. The fruit was also a pleasant surprise. There was a good assortment, including strawberries, melon, kiwi, pineapple, etc. Additionally, everything was also reasonable in price ($2.25 for a small OJ, $8 for a quiche, $2 for cinnamon roll) and portion sizes are just right! We'll definitely be returning!
- Pros: Great food and service
- Cons: Only street parking
Great place for breakfast
by popa5
This place is one of the nicer, small venues in a city for simple but tasty breakfast. Pretty fast service. There could be a wait time especially on weekends. However, they have extra space upstairs.
For sweet tooth they have maple danishes, they say imported from Sweden.
- Pros: Good hearty breakfast
Poor Service; Food not up to par
by 2106
I was very disappointed in my most recent trip here. On an early Monday night there were two servers and only a few tables but service was not good. Salad came before being finished with appetizer. Had to ask for more water. Entree came out just as finishing salad. Didn't ask about food until ready to take plates away.
Also, the food that night was only mediocre. Walnut crusted trout was not crusty but mushy. Soupy sauce that covered fish made it mushy. Bread pudding for dessert had no flavor. Maybe it was a different cook than usual but I'll not go back for some time. Too pricey for poor service and only fair food.
- Cons: Service, quality of food for price
must try
by pink75
we went there on a sunday midmorning. we waited 30 mins to be seated, it was really busy. the food took quite long, not sure if they are just very busy. i had their french toast and my husband had hamburger for lunch. both were good. I should have ordered lunch. but i will come back to try their lunch and dinner menu.
- Cons: expect to wait for 30 mins on a weekend.
Welcoming North Park eatery packs in a diverse crowd for its Scandinavian comfort food.
by Valerie Moloney
The Scene
Worn-in hardwood floors show signs of the heavy business that this homey, bi-level restaurant has seen through the years, a weekend destination for North Park families and couples. Colorful gnomes dance playfully in a hilly scene painted on the right wall, a cheerful mural in a simple, Swedish-flavored dining room of wooden tables situated closely together. Friendly servers handle constant foot traffic with ease while managing not to rush diners out too soon.
The Food
Meals get a Scandinavian treatment here, fulfilling sweet and savory cravings. Bananas and strawberries with cream cover every inch of a thick Belgian waffle, cut in four slices for easy sharing. Minced, perfectly salted corned beef is paired with eggs, fried potatoes and sauteed onions. Whipped cream cheese and fresh dill peek out from the fold of the Oslo Omelette, enhancing a filling of flaky, smoked salmon. A dinner standout includes Swedish meatballs with lingonberries.

The food is good, no doubt about it. That's all you want is a great meal at decent price. The salmon appetizer was delicious. I had to try their swedish meatballs and it definitely hit the spot. Delicious
- Pros: Food, Price, Staff

I live a short, walking distance away from Tre Kronor and I used to eat brunch there every weekend until my protruding tummy begged for me to cut back. It is heavenly, and breakfast/brunch is splendid with choices like orange French toast, Swedish pancakes with lingonberries, and fluffy stacks of waffles topped with mounds of fresh fruit. The rosy-cheeked waitstaff are consistently friendly and helpful. And even though the place is always packed with children, they never seem to cry or complain about the food! (I think it's because it feels so much like home.)
- Pros: Second Floor, Cozy, yummy food

Great breakfast. The omelets were delicious. Dinner entrees were good too. Large portions. Tasty deserts and appetizers. Excellent service. We went back three times. Just 3 miles north of Andersonville. Worth the drive from downtown Chicago.
- Pros: Large portions, Easy parking
Neighborhood Charmer
by awhpoet
Offering consistently excellent service on repeat visits, Tre Kronor is now near the top of recommended lists - both to out-of-towners and residents. Decor is humble, service exceptional, and the food the real draw. Tre Kronor knows how to offer daily specials - often so many, the choices become dizzying. Seafood is a good bet, here, and the desserts change as well. If the bread pudding is on the menu, it is a must-have. For such service and food, one would expect a shocker of a bill at the end of the meal - but Tre Kronor serves it all up with a smile for less than one would expect. Bring your own wine to make the meal special, as it is definitely BYOB.
- Pros: Friendly, Excellent Service, Delicious Seafood
- Cons: Reservations a Must, Parking A Chore
