Fabulously carefree dining

When I first arrived at the restaurant I was struck by how much the entrance reminded me of a villa I had stayed in while on vacation, quite a feat, considering it was winter in Chicago. The first person I saw had long, long blonde dreadlocks and island music was in the air. The atmosphere couldn't have been more perfect. I was quickly seated and greeted by my server, Chelsea, who I've always requested since. I found the menu to have a wide selection with something for everyone. There were people of all ages and they seemed to be enjoying the casually elegant surroundings as well. I also noticed a table with actual "islanders", I think they were from Jamaica-always a good sign. I selected the salmon salad. It arrived in a timely fashion, nicely grilled on a bed of salad greens, beans and various veggies, chopped small the way I like and set atop tortilla rounds with cheese, actually the cheese was melted and the tortillas toasted, oh I don't know how they did it, but it was dressed in something citrussy and really delicious and very different from most salmon salads I've enjoyed as of late. I had the chocolate island for desert, again nicely presented and definitely made special with different types of chocolate and some sort of candy coating on the almonds. I absolutely recommend this restaurant, it was definitely a cut above and a unique experience for dining in this price range.

This is my last visit there. When it first opened, the food and service was amazing. Then the manager changed and menu changed. The one manager (Frank) yells at the waiters/waitresses and creates a very bad atmosphere. The food has changed and it basically dull. The waiters and waitresses were fantastic but turnover is way too high and I blame the management. I predict this restaurant will not be around much longer.
- Pros: Waiters and waitresses
- Cons: Manager, food, ambience

The seafood isn't very good when compared to other restaurants in the area. It's difficult to find something on the menu that isn't fried and what isn't fried comes either under or over cooked. This location does have a nice little covered patio bar area on the side facing Golf rd for after dinner drinks. It never seems to have taken off however because whenever we stop by to see it always seems a bit slow.
- Pros: easy parking
- Cons: ok food

I've been to Bahama Breeze several times for lunch but never for dinner. For lunch, it's very quiet and very relaxing atmosphere. I like their chicken wing appetizers and their onion rings are huge! I've had their wood burning pizza, salads and kabobs and I thought all were good. The kabobs were alittle well done for my taste but next time I ordered medium rare and it was perfect. The portions are generous and I thought the waitresses were very nice. I also like their lemon breeze drink.

This place was so noisy I had to strain my ears to here they person sitting next to me speak. The music was REALLY loud and the tables too close together. The food was satsifactory, nothing too special. The waiters were fair in their service, they did do a good job at pointing out specials on their menu. I wouldn't reccommend this place for a meeting or a nice quiet date though!
