Sooooo much food...
by vegitoboi
In my younger years, my aunt would take home some of her leftovers that she'd get whenever her hospital friends ordered out for lunch. Back then, the only think I knew about Mediterranean food was Gyros. When I ate the food, I liked it from the start (granted I found it a little dry...and it still was in the recent visit). I came here for my 18th birthday, but for some reason that I can't remember I was in a foul mood and didn't feel like eating. Fast forward to 2008 and 8 years after, I find myself going here once again. Now, takeout orders may be one thing, but actually ordering something here is another. the plates are HUGE!!! My family were done just by eating the appitizer sample platter (1 big piece of pita with a "lazy suzan" plate of 6 different hummus type sauces). I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and Filet Migon combo, and instead of getting 1 filet of fish and steak i got 2 filets of steak plus one big filet of fish cut into 4 portions PLUS a full plate of couscous. Needless to say, it was overwhelming for 1 sitdown meal. The fish was great, but the steak was another story (leathery feeling and hard to cut through). I tried my mom's and aunt's dishes and they too were pretty tough (but good). I for one like the place, but not to the point I'd go everyday. my suggestion is to come with an empty stomach and get ready to chow down.
- Pros: LOTS of food
- Cons: parking lot is hidden, best to have reservation for dinner after 5PM
Wonderful atmosphere, incredible food.

If you enjoy savory Middle east/Persian fare you will love Reza's. It is oozing with charm. The service is wonderful, and the food is fantastic. The portions are simply huge. You get complimentary hummas/pita and even if you are not a vegatarian you will want to try their veggie appetizers. They have grilled portabello mushrooms in a sauce of pomegranate that is to die for. They also make large wedges (they call them planks) of potatoes grilled in the same sauce. It's heaven. Don't come here just thinking "gyros". They have an incredible lamb shank that is very meaty and flavorful and the lamb kabobs are awesome. If you want beef they do medallions of beef filet (4) grilled and it is heaven in your mouth. All of their seafood is shipped in fresh and whatever is in season. Very large lunch & dinner menu and cocktails. You will be sharing food with your dining companions. This is a class act in the heart of Andersonville.
- Pros: large selection huge portions
- Cons: none
Huge portions is the trump card
by psnchckn
The portions at Reza are enormous, so the amount of food you get is worth the price. My girlfriend and I shared an entree and we had more than enough to take home for the next day's lunch. The food was good, especially the eggplant appetizer, though our falafel appetizer was cold when it came out; it must have been sitting around awhile, because it arrived at our table 60 seconds after we ordered it. Service was OK, though our waiter was a little odd and not very communicative. I'd definitely go back again.
- Pros: Portions, flavors, tons of seating so no wait
- Cons: Appetizer was cold
EXCELLENT FOOD & PORTIONS!

I went to Reza's for the first time with a friend who frequently eats here and recommended it. We were seated right away and the menu was huge with so many vegetarian options! The complimentary pita bread with feta and soup was awesome! The appetizers and food we ordered were by far the largest portions I have seen at any restaurant in years! My friend and I ate so much food and we still had to box some up to go! It was so tasty and good! I recommend it to everyone!
- Pros: Excellent food! So many items to choose from!
- Cons: Too quiet (not many customers) and a bit chilly (air conditioning on full blast).
On and off excellent food

I'm rarely disappointed with Reza's. The order-in sometimes is just as good. Prices are steep but I think overall worth the food. Sometimes a little on the dry side but I think that is the risk you take when you order kebobs anywhere. The few times I've gone there were during lunch time on a weekend. it's packed, which says a lot about its popularity and some may say, by extrapolation, its food.
I recommend it highly.
- Pros: Taste, taste, taste
- Cons: Price, location.
Reza's - Quality dropping, Price rising
by rapidbunny
As recent as 2 years ago Rezas was great. Pretty decent veggie options and over all a good value. The staff has always been nice - with the frequent acceptions of "friends of the owners" coming in and getting priority to the customers - this seems to happen often at the Clark location - unacceptable. Presently it seems Rezas is trying to pay for their insipid tv commercials that are investing basic cable channels in Chicago. They Sunday brunch is $20. A "champaigne brunch" is still $20 if you pass on alcohol. What a joke. Their beef in the buffet is just short of vile. Their "made to order" omelet bar NEVER has a chef present - no one to make omelets. The owners are getting bloated and lazy if they think the people in Andersonville will pay for this kind of over-rated Cr*P. Reza's what has become of you?
- Pros: location
- Cons: poor value
Reza's is beyond wonderful
by AnnaAradia2769
Reza's is my favorite casual restaraunt period. I dine here at least two times a month, and I have yet to be dissapointed. The service is wonderful and always brings plenty of the fresh, warm pita bread and imported feta. The menu is great on a vegetrian and carnivoure side. I personally enjoy the combos. Two of my favorites are the reza's special chicken and filet kabob for only $13.00, and the ground chicken kabobs for $10. If you go for lunch, the buffet has a large variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian delights that will make your mouth water. The service is always great, and I always walk out full.
- Pros: Free parking, fresh food, price
Andersonville spot attracts groups and couples with its wide variety of Mediterranean specialties.

In Short
This lively restaurant offers an extensive menu of nearly 50 options. Hummus, baba ghanoush and falafel are favorite starters. Persian soup is a combination of kidney beans, lentils, chickpeas, noodles and mint in a yogurt-based broth. Entree highlights include two huge lamb shanks dripping with tomato-based sauce, plus fessenjan, a Cornish hen that is simmered in sweet-and-sour pomegranate sauce with finely crushed walnuts.
- Pros: expansive menugood service
- Cons: inconsistent
Been going to reza's for fifteen years!
by akmurphy74
I have been dining in or ordering delivery from Reza's for fifteen years, I have even dined with Reza himself. The quality, consistency and portions have never changed. Reza's is an excellent place to introduce someone to mediterranean food. The meat is especially good on summer nights when the cooks barbecue outside in the back. The portions are huge, everything is fresh, the fish is excellent and the vegetarian choices are superb. My only complaints have ever been the service (when Reza is not around) and the shrimp, which I have been disappointed with on a few occasions. The lady who answers the phone for deliveries and less often the waitstaff, can be very rude, hurried and condescending. Normally, I would discontinue patronage however the food cannot be contended with in chicago. Reza's truly is the only mediterranean restaurant of its level in Chicago.
- Pros: consistency, quality, portions
- Cons: , quality of shrimp, condescending servers
