This place is simply awesome! The hot dogs are to die for. Not only is the food great! But the atmosphere takes you back to another time. This place is simply a treasure. My kids love the food! the relish is neon green! Can you get any better than this?!? I highly recommend it for people who are from out of town, families, and everyone.

Pros: The food is great!

Cons: It can get too crowded

Just came from a trip to Chicago and made a point to stop at SuperDawg. Although the service was nice, the SuperDawg itself wasn't that great. The bun got soggy, but the pickled tomato was pretty cool. We found many other places in and around the city that serve up a much better dawg. It's kind of like Sonic, but really crammed tight to get in and out. It's worth a try, but only just to say you've done it.

The place looks like a pit but I guess you should expect that. The food's mediocre but it's an experience eating there. I guess that's why people go there - the experience. The dogs on the roof are kind of cute. For me it's a one time experience.

Pros: cute

Cons: so-so food and too expensive

The hot dogs are good but as for "cheap eats" hot dog with fries is 5 bucks get 2 your to 10 bucks add an extra tiny 5 dollar milk shake and you have a one expensive hot dog place. Go for the overall experience. Then go some where cheaper the next time you want a hot dog.

Pros: kitchy

Cons: very expensive

Superdawg's has the best Chicago-style hot dogs ever!! Basic unpretentious same building for the last 45+ years - the owners have it right, it's all about the food!!

Pros: dogs, statues on the roof

Cons: a long ride from downtown

I love Superdawg. Service is always pleasant .The hotdogs are 100% beef and very tasty. The shakes are super thick and yummy . This is a perfect spot for late night dining with friends or a casual date night with your honey. It is also a wonderful place to bring your out of town guest so they can experience a true Chicago retro gem . Superdawg is what fast food should be .

Pros: the food , milkshakes and ambience

Just had my first visit to Superdawg today. Boy, what a disappointment. I love hot dogs and the Superdawg was on par with most other good Chicago dogs but almost $7 for a hotdog, frys, and a small drink, come on! The service was good if you can find a parking space or pull into their cramped car hop spaces. This place must be for someone who can walk there. I'll stick to the hundred other local hotdog joints where I came get a tasty dog for half the price. Try Parky's in Forest Park, much better.

When I just a kid I always wanted to know what was so good about this place. I'd see the 2 hot dog mascots on top of the black exterior establishment and wondered while I would pass by the place sitting in the passanger seat of my aunt's car. Fast forward to getting a cable box, a car of my own, and some of my own money and low and behold the old hot dog place is being featured on Food Network on more than one program. I say to myself, " Wow, this MUST be good." So coming home one day I decided to stop by. Now, yes I admit the whole order box thing threw me off for a newbee like me, but it's no biggie (after all, you can always get out of the car and order inside). Although for my first go around I didn't go for the famous Superdawg, but rather for their double cheeseburger they call the Whoopskiburger. Now I don't know what it is they put in their seasoning or if it was the side of crispy accordion cut fries, but there's just something about the place and the food that you'll just fall in love with. It was an instant classic with me and I find myself going whenever I get that hankering for some good ol burger n "superdawg' goodness. This is just a plain n simple mom n pop's hot dog establishment . But hey, if you've been in business for over 50 years, they must be doing something right to keep customers coming back. Touristy, maybe. Off the beaten path, sure. But worth the travel for the best fast food in town, absolutely.

Pros: BEST "Superdawgs" anywhere, BEST cheeseburgers, BEST fast food when it comes to burgers, hot dogs, n fries, have a root beer float (blackow)

Cons: parking is limited, hard to get to coming from opposite line of traffic, place COULD use a makeover
