What a neighborhood bar should be!
by hungrytummies
Nice place to go and relax with a friend. Good selection of musical guests. Great beer specials. Tamales are a must.
ugliness is beautiful

Great little bar where you dont have to pose or worry about looking good. Once in a while they have live jazz or folk bands. They play country, bluegrass, banjo music overhead. Buy some tamales from the tamale-man that comes by.
- Pros: Not crowded, easy going people
- Cons: Cash only
A classic cash-only corner tap where locals catch the neighborhood buzz and listen to live music.

The Scene
This handsome corner tavern derives its unique charisma from an antique feel and woodwork and from its adoring neighborhood-and-beyond clientele. Comfortable, lived-in and welcoming, the Bucktown bar attracts easygoing weekend bohemians, post collegiates, longtime locals, and newly settled professionals. It can get crowded but it's never a scene. Seating consists of a dozen bar stools and various wooden tables and chairs. There's an in-house piano and a pool table in the back. Windows offer a pleasing street view.
The Draw
The bartenders take good care of the diverse urban crowd. The wide selection of draft beers includes Harp, Guinness and Moosehead, and the bloody mary enjoys an excellent reputation. Live music, usually folk, jazz and country, echoes through the joint on weekend nights.
