Straight forward bowling alley by nicole m. at InsiderPages

Contributor at Insider Pages

True, was once the stage of many musicians, and is now a regular low key bowling alley. My first experiences here were in high school, when fellow classmate performed and many in my grade turned out. In my later years I've bowled here a few times and have found that I do prefer other bowling alleys. But that doesn't mean that fireside is terrible. Its just small and on the low tech end. Still a key spot if you're in the area.

This place use to be great

by LumbardRocks at Citysearch

This place use to book all the great indi punk, ska, metal and hiphop acts the first time they would roll through town. Now it's just a dirty, smelly bowling alley with a cheap bar.

I wish they would change it back to the way it use to be.....Don't know what you've got till it's gone.

  • Pros: Its was once a famous punk rock venue
  • Cons: Now its just a bowling alley

RUDE!

by skurry at Citysearch

These bartenders are extremely rude, I will not be going back. Its gross as well, pretty run down. Its a shame too because Anti-Flag played there back in the day.

This homey one-time punk rock venue plugs away at a simple formula: Cheap bowling, beer, live music.

The Music
The all-ages bowling alley transforms some nights from fun afternoon activity to banging rock club. Once the host to triple and quadruple bills of underground punk, ska, metal and hardcore acts, the roster now plays more like an indie festival. Underground bands on their first tours often hit the DIY-friendly Fireside.

fire side is on fire!!

by normafreakingjean at Citysearch

The Fireside Bowl is one of the best places I've ever been to for a show! Its cheap, intimate, and one of a kind. You can get upclose and personal with not only the kids there for the show, but with the bands as well. Fireside is on fire!!! and i hope it NEVER closes.

  • Pros: Can meet bands, inexpensive, intimate
  • Cons: bad parking

It's not a bowling alley!

by Sebastian0 at Citysearch

For any fool who thinks Fireside Bowl is a regular old bowling alley they are very wrong! Fireside is Chicago's biggest venue for underground punk, ska, alternative, rock... all kinds of great music. Fireside is a great place for bands to play who wanna make it big. Anyone can go, it's all ages, not expensive, and LOUD!

  • Pros: Inexpensive, Good Parking
