worst chinese food in the city
by mardigrasdeb at Citysearch
the worst chinese/asian food I've ever had--disgusting!! the teriaki chicken was inedible and the chicken chow fun was soggy and tasteless. I threw away $30 of food and ended up eating a lean cuisine frozen dinner instead which was much better tasting. I had my order delivered and the delivery man was fast and nice so I can't say anything bad about the service. i will NEVER order from here again!
GREAT AMBIANCE, GREAT SERVICE, INCREDIBLE SUSHI CREATIONS
by catfifty at Citysearch
i've been going to chen's for 10 years. their sushi cannot be beat, nor can their ambience. their prices are perfectly in line. some of the things you may want to try are the white tuna crunch (which is not on the menu) and, for a hot dish, the general tao which is made with either shrimp, chicken or tofu or all 3, and you can get it low-fat. parking on the street is awful (it IS in wrigleyville after all), but there is a reasonable parking lot right next door that discounts for going to chen's.
- Pros: ambience, food, service
- Cons: parking
great chinese, good sushi

We had a couple of noodle dishes for takeout a few weeks ago and both were very good, with huge portions. We'll be getting a lot of takeout from Chen's.
Three Strikes
by baker1420 at Citysearch
A while back i had ordered take-out from Chens and my order was completely wrong. but i ate what they gave me, however, it wasn't what i had ordered. on valentine's day, i decided to spend a romantic evening at home with my bf so i decided to order from Chens again. by the time i got home with my food i found out that they forgot half of my order. Finally last night, i decided to try Chen's again. I ordered the Lemon Chicken. The description sounded delicious, "crispy chicken, tangy, lemon flavor." Not one of those words could have been used to describe my dish. it was absoluetly terrible. the chicken was tough and the outside was soggy and to top it off, the majority of the dish was all cooked fruit (apples, oranges, pineapple....). Nothing on the mention mentioned that the dish. It was absolutely terrible. i don't think i've ever been that disappointed with a restauarant.
- Pros: sushi is delicious
- Cons: lemon chicken is terrible and not at all how it is described on the menu
Absolutely loved it!!! A must try!!

I loved this place, especially for a date. it is dimly lit and totally romantic, not to mention the food is great!!! Try the Crispy Duck and the Mongolian Dinner with all three meats--fabulous!!! We were seated right away, it is quiet and a relaxing place, and the waitress was great!! Love it!!
- Pros: inexpensive, fast service, quaint but hip
- Cons: parking
Heavy sauces, bland food

Our first Chinese in Chicago after moving from LA. The atmosphere is great, and our server couldn't have been nicer. We hated the lobster dumplings (tasteless), so he took them off our check. The other dishes were very fresh, but too heavily sauced -- like the food was dumbed down. Too bad -- this place could be wonderful with a lighter touch in the kitchen.
- Pros: Service
- Cons: , Heavy food
Sushi

I've tried sushi many times over the years and never liked it. This place offered some great options for you to get your friends hooked on it (like I was). The staff was great, the presentation of food was great. Just beware of Cubs game days though, the drunken crowds that pile into the streets can get annoying while you enjoy your food.
- Pros: Inexpensive, great decor, nice break from neighborhood establishments, Great Service, Tuna Crunch Rolls
- Cons: Don't dine here when Cubs games let out (open windows make drunks annoying)

Welcoming retreat
by ennaerb at Citysearch
Great place for a date, business meeting, and to bring the family. High chairs available. Spacious seating with a fireplace next to the bar and comfy chairs to lounge in. Service was excellent and prompt!! Best vegeable roll appetizer I've experienced. Even the washrooms were impressive, adorned with candlescapes, I felt like I was at the spa. I will definately return and recommend this restaurant to others.
