Never had a bad meal
by dogan at Citysearch
I have never had a bad meal here. The food is always fresh, plentiful and delicious. Spinach a la Penne is a particular favorite. The waiters are very attentive and efficient and are always fun to chat with. I highly recommend this place (now renamed Efes) for good food and a friendly relaxing atmosphere. Turkish food at its best!
- Pros: Good food. Friendly, attentive service.
Just Bad!
by Aztec2008 at Citysearch
This is just bad food! Mujver tasted weird, hummus had a sour taste and our kebabs were cold! Service was bad, the boss was rude... Just not recommended!
- Cons: just bad!
Best Mediterranean food in Chicago
by MikeMcNamara at Citysearch
Perfect atmosphere, authentic Mediterranean food at a very reasonable price. Great for dates, at least for me =) And the chef is the co-owner and he's TURKISH. These are his recipes. It's the real deal. Enjoy!
Not that great
by lennydoc at Citysearch
Maybe I am mistaken expecting this restaurant to serve turkish food, but this place is anything but true Turkish food. Food had no traditional spices. Service was good though. Reasonable priced but ABSOLUTELY no flavor!!!
- Pros: good service
- Cons: fodo below average
fantastic food!
by richard78 at Citysearch
Wonderful place with super delicious and healthy food. All my friends (meat-eaters and veggies/vegans) love it the same.
It is just the welcoming atmosphere, the nice decor, the helpful staff and the delicious dishes and yummy desserts. The salad bar has such a great selection that you just don't know where to start with. I just love it, what else can I say....
Come and see for yourself. Cousins IV is worth it!!!! NO doubt there!
- Pros: nice attentive stuff, amazing food, cozy environment, floor tables!
Fresh and wholesome
by sunny01 at Citysearch
A place to get real wholesome food at a nice price. The vegan options are good and the service is polite and friendly. I always feel relaxed in this place and not rushed to finish my food and get out. A must place for all vegans.
- Pros: fantastic food, friendly staff, peaceful environment, the best deserts
Romantic and cheap!
by kmg103 at Citysearch
This is a fantastic place! Fun, funky and romantic. Try to sit and the tables against the wall with the pillows instead of chairs. The food is wonderful and cheap! I would recommend Cousin's to anyone in Chicago.
- Pros: Romantic, cheap, fun
Le Bon Heure
by lebonheure at Citysearch
Always get the bottle of wine, never the glass. The wine is excellent and much cheaper. You cannot get decaf tea or coffee which is disappointing but the food is excellent and well worth the trip. If you have an exercise program in place, you'll need it because you'll want more of everything.
Wear good, clean new socks & stockings because if you end up on the 'true' Middle Eastern side of the restaurant, you will have to take off your shoes & fold your legs as though you were in kindergarten. It does take some doing, yoga, if you're not used to it. I recommend sitting at a table, if one is available. If you bring children, they should be mature. It's not a place to let small children run about.
- Pros: Fits the wallet, Atmosphere, easy, Nice outdoor cafe
- Cons: , Paid parking building, no decaf tea-coffee
Recline on rugs and dine on tasty Turkish fare at this cheap-eats favorite.

The Scene
Cousin's narrow storefront entrance is deceptive; the Turkish restaurant's dining room is twice as big as you'd expect, with two ornately decorated rooms offering seating at banquettes, tables and roomy window seats piled with pillows and rugs. The prime location on Broadway makes for great people-watching, while the varied, vegetarian-friendly menu draws a mixed crowd of casual Lakeview types.
The Food
You can't go wrong with standard starters like stuffed grape leaves, hummus or baba ghanoush. Dense, nutty falafel is worth a try too--whether folded in a pita or served with rice and tomato. And vegetarians thrill to a dozen other meatless entrees. Carnivores can choose from a selection of tempting kebabs, including chicken, beef and lamb; regulars are partial to the kafte, a blend of chopped beef and lamb spiced up nicely with garlic and served with rice pilaf.
- Pros: good foodcheapconvenient location
- Cons: not much ambience
How about health Food?

Abundance of healthy fare. Average. Baba Ghanouj is tasty. Might need to go out to eat soon after.
