My friend and I were both first-timers to Sheffield's after work on a random weekday. We had some drinks, ordered some food - my burger and fries were both super tasty, especially for bar food! - and bottom line, it was a great little hangout. It was a bit of a quiet night, but you could tell the place gets rockin'. The staff was very nice, guys and girls alike. We both left saying we'll be back!
Pros: Friendly staff, unpretentious atmosphere, good food
Cons: It was cold so we couldn't experience the patio...not that that's a true "con" :)

This place is by far one of the top 3 best beer bars in the City of Chicago. Hands down. Awesome, friendly staff, great food, plenty of room, and the Beer...what else. Staff is very knowledgable and helpful when picking out new beers. I love the fact that you can get a great tasting beer for the same price as a Miller Lite, yet some people will still drink the Lite. Is it the ads? I am out--see you at Sheffield's!
Pros: Beer. Staff. Year-round Garden. Red line access.
Cons: No more Michelle or Jen Ball.

Cool beer garden, but you have to get there early to enjoy it. Very Crowded. $4 miller lites, a little over priced, but there is always the $2.50 Oldstyle bottles. Mainly filled with guys (80 %) standing around trying to get the attention of the snobby females (20%). But like all bars, if your drunk it does not matter. Go on a weekday.

Being new to town, some friends and I went to Sheffield's. It's right down the street, within stumbling distance. The place was packed and looked great. We had a rawkin' good time, but at $4 a bottle for bud light, I can't say I'll be heading there too often. Maybe they have specials during the week, but the weekend is killer on the tab.
Pros: great atmosphere, huge bar
Cons: expensive

After moving to the city almost 2 years ago I have finally found "my" bar. No yuppie B.S. just a pretty solid group of 25-35 year olds that like a casual bar and some damn fine beer. Highly Recomended by just a regular guy!!!
Pros: Superb beers, friendly staff, beautifu amennities
Cons: bathrooms need work

I went to Sheffield's during a visit to the city from Scotland. The drinks were great and although it was busy everybody was very friendly. We met so many nice people and ended up drinking with one crowd all night. I'd recommend this place to anybody looking for a relaxed, fun night out.

Simply the best neighborhood bar - super-friendly staff, cozy atmosphere - probably my favorite casual spot in the city.

Excellent food, wine, service, and staff. The ambience is very nice, elegant, and initimate. I would rate this establishment 4 ****'s .
Pros: romantic
Cons: needs better parking

My colleagues and I like how this place is in a central location and near the El. So, when we come here, everyone has an easy way home. The beers are well-priced and the selection of taps is average for Chciago pubs. The best thing about this place is the large outdoor area.
Pros: Porch
Cons: crowded in winter

This is one of my favorites, but I was a bit irritated on my last visit. The place was not even half-full -- plenty of room in the beer garden -- and they gave me a hard time about bringing in my 3-year-old. We finally got in, but the hassle was irritating. Anyway, the Anchor Steam on tap here is worth the trip. And the patio beer garden in the summer is fab.
Pros: Beer selection
Cons: A touch of attitude
