Studio Within

I was going to a salon in the suburbs for 4 years, but my hair stylist stopped listening to me after a while, so I was looking for a new place to go, but I didn't know where. My friend Michelle told me about Studio Within, and said she got her haircut by Trish, so I decided to give her a try seeing how I loved how Michelle's hair looked. When I got there, everyone was so nice and welcoming to me while I waited for Trish. I was a bit skeptical when she walked out because she had dreadlocks and I wasn't sure if she was going to want to do something too crazy to me, but after sitting with her and talking about what I wanted, I felt much more reassured. I was going for a pretty huge change. We cut off about 11 inches and donated it. I love my new haircut so much, and we had great conversation! She cut it for me two weeks ago, and I still get compliments on it just about every day. Actually just yesterday, I was in the checkout line at whole foods and the woman in front of me asked me where I got my haircut because she loved it, so I told her to go see Trish. I'm sure she'll have the same great experience that I did. Not to mention, my husband and I have been having a lot more fun together too since I got my new look. wink, wink! After getting my haircut, I also had my eyebrows waxed by Katie and I love them too. She's very sweet and gentle. I will definitely be going back to studio within and I will be referring all of my friends and family as well. Thanks Studio within! I feel like a new woman! And I'll be back soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros: Average price for high quality service, friendly staff, great atmosphere

Cons: if there's a cubs game, parking could be difficult, otherwise its not bad

Kristy is by the best hair stylist in Chicago. Not only are her cuts classy, they last. With other stylists, the cut may look fine for one week, but you'll regret it in two. Kristy's cuts last for weeks--both rakish and economical. Beside the cut, she's fun. I always look forward to our convos. Highly recommend her.

I found Studio within on citysearch on the night I decided to get a haircut for the 1st time in 2 years. They had squeezed me in the same day. Kasha cut and styled my hair. She did a wonderfull job. I think I found my hair stylist !!! I am looking forward to come back to try the other spa services Studio within offers.

I went to this salon and saw Kasia for a haircut and a highlight. I loved my hair. She did such a great job. It turned out exactly how I wanted. I have seen many stylists in this neighborhood and Kasia is the best by far! Plus her prices are pretty inexpensive. I will defiantly be back again!

I just moved to Chicago and found this salon on citysearch. I'm so glad I did, because I love my new haircut and color. Before I came here it was hard to find anyone who would bleach my hair but Ellen was happy to do it and it looks and feels amazing. Everyone here is very helpful and knows what they are doing. It also had a relaxing atmosphere. I'm definitely going to come back!

Pros: Best color I've had done.

Cons: It was a little pricey but totally worth it.

This is my first review for Citysearch. I found Studio Within on this website and decided to try it out because of some of the really great reviews. I'm glad I did. Ellen cut my hair last Saturday and she did a wonderful job. I'm growing my hair out, so I just wanted a trim to give it some shape and make it look healthier. She gave me a beautiful, natural, not fussy haircut and my hair has never looked this healthy. You can tell she really knows her techniques and she's very professional and very friendly. She already has suggestions on how she would cut my hair once it gets longer, and I can't wait to see how good it looks then. Everyone at Studio Within is friendly and courteous. I'll be getting a massage, manicure and pedicure on Thursday and I'm sure I'll receive the same level of quality and professionalism. Also, John cut my boyfriend's hair on Saturday and he did an amazing job. My boy looks so gorgeous with his new haircut.

I am really shocked at all the great reviews from this place. I went to this salon a few times to get my hair cut and had problems every time. I have long hair which I am trying to grow layers out of. I told this to the stylist the first time I went in. She did not take the time to ask me any questions about what I like or do not like about my hair or my style. She then took off over an inch of hair and added more layers all over my head. The cut itself was also uneven....I could see it clearly when I looked in the mirror..one side was much longer than the other. After having an awful time with it, I went back again, thinking maybe I needed to be clearer. I explained in great detail the problems I was having and what I did not like about my cut. My ends were going every which way due to the short layers. She told me she really did not see anything wrong with it but maybe the layers were too short. So she only trimmed my bangs and just a bit off the bottom and charged me over 50 dollars for it. Again, it was uneven. While she is a really nice person I can't believe how awful my cuts were, even after giving it another chance. She paid no attention to what I said or even tried to fix the problems with my hair. It was so intollerable that I went to another salon the following week to get it fixed. The stylist there commented on how uneven my hair was and that the layers were also uneven and not right for my hair. She was able to fix it for the time being until all the hideousness grows out and I am much happier in the meantime...I don't look horrible anymore. I definitely won't be back!

My sister Beth and I have been clients of John's since 1992, we have followed him throughout his career, or as long as we have been in Chicago. Our hair color is very natural looking and the health of our hair is incredible. It is only a fantastic colorist and a person with such a great personality that clients would travel from whever to see. John does not promote womens hair cutting, however he has been cutting my hair for the past year and I have never received so many compliments.

John has been doing my color for over ten years and he is terrific! He really listens, offers suggestions, executes flawlessly and makes each experience relaxing and fun. When my daughter moved here several years ago, she immediately became another delighted, loyal client. Without any hesitation, we have both recommended John to many of our friends. The quality and professionalism of his service make all of us go back again and again!

My boyfriend went to Kristy for a haircut last week- wow! She is amazing. I would highly recommend any guy who wants a great look to go to Kristy - she rocks.
