I attend a concert at the Vic Theater. The multi levels made it easy to see all the bands. The overall experience was not bad either, but I feel they could update some aspects of the theater.

This venue has good acoustics and a laid-back atmosphere. The space is medium-sized but still felt intimate. They seem to host a pretty good range musical styles and I always check out what shows they have coming up, usually an interesting line-up.

The Vic is a pretty cool chicago venue made up of multiple levels where you can pretty much get a good look at the band no matter where you are in the building. Also, they have a brew and view where you can get together with some friends and watch old movies and drink.
Like other small venus, the Vic tends to get some pretty big name bands on occassions, but also is a great place to see smaller acts. It's worth checking out.

I was very impressed the first time I saw a concert at the Vic. It's not a huge place so you get very close to the stage, and they bring in all kinds of bands. It's in a great location, easy to get to using the El. Attracts a great crowd of music lovers so anyone can feel comfortable inside. Not a pretentiously hip place, just a classy theatre with a lot to offer.
Check out the Brew 'n View to drink beer and watch movies on the cheap.

The Vic is alright, It has pretty good concerts and every Saturday night shows (around) Second run movies at their Brew n' View. All in all it's a fun place right off the redline Belmont stop, right in the Belmont area, so after the concert theres plenty to do. Everyone should visit at least once!

Ok, there's the Vic Theatre which has concerts and comedy shows and the like. Ok. THEN, there's Brew 'N' View at the Vic Theatre. Exactly what is says. Drink beer while watching midnight movies. (Three Penny Cinema recently started doing this.) Check out the Brew 'N' first then go back for the concerts. Its tucked away in a corner one block west from the Belmont Red Line.
This is the url for Brew 'N' View. http://www.brewview.com/index.html
It's a concert hall, a movie theater and sometimes a big sports bar.

The Venue
The Vic Theatre was built in 1912--the sign reading "no moshing, body surfing" came a bit later. The concerts at the Vic cover a wide musical landscape; it's a great place for live music. You might see Jackson Browne one night, PJ Harvey or Leftover Salmon the next. The Vic's top-notch acoustics can accommodate them all. With plenty of seating on the main floor, it's comfortable--unless jammed to capacity, as it was for a 1998 David Bowie show. The elegant balconies and gold-painted ornamentation are the most obvious evidence of the theater's rich history.
The Experience
The Vic is open every night. Brew & View kicks off at 8pm (plus 12pm shows on weekends), when a young crowd takes in double features on the mammoth screen and nurses discounted beer. Summer, if the Chicago Bulls reach the NBA playoffs, the place becomes a hipster sports bar with a massive-screen TV.
Best Music Venue in the City

By far, this is the best place to see a show in all of Chicago. It's old, stately, quaint and has great views and even better acoustics.
I saw the Radiators jam there in one of the better shows I've ever seen.
The Brew and View movie showings they do are awesome as well. Go see a show here!
Still rowdy?

Back in the day this place was very rowdy when they had great groups like King Diamond and Megadeth playing. It's a great place, but parking is bad and so is the neighborhood after midnight.
- Pros: Bad parking
fun little place

saw margaret cho here a while back, and i was surprised at what an intimate venue this is. sitting at a small cocktail table off to the side, we were comfortable and had no trouble seeing the stage. good mid-size place.
