Buyer Beware

Buyer Beware!!

I recently bought a set of china from BAm that had over 100 pieces. I asked the staff if all the pieces included were in the same great condition that the display pieces and was told that they were. They also said that this particular vendor was very reputable and could be counted on for the quality of the antiques he sold at their store. I took them at their word and did not inspect each piece of the service before taking it home. Once I got home and had an opportunity to inspect the china, I found that more than half of the pieces we very used in poor condition.

I contacted the store to see what could be done and was told that they could not help

Local antique aficionados frequent this vintage Edgewater emporium to score 20th century digs like costume jewelry, furniture, clothing and collectibles.

In Short
From cigarette lighters to a 1950s/60s bamboo bar reminiscent of Elvis in Blue Hawaii, this shop is pure vintage heaven--all 20,000 square feet of it. Black leather couches displayed at the front of the store end the hunt for lovers of the mid-century aesthetic. Rhinestone baubles glitter in glass cases throughout the store. Collectibles such as a 1940 issue of the New Yorker or a 1968 nudist art exhibit calendar contemplate the past, while a 1970s flowery long skirt in the store's mid-section screams groovy. Fur coats from the 1940s and 1950s evoke memories of Marilyn Monroe glamour.

If you need that needle in a Haystack...

This is the place to check if you are looking for that unique item you can't find anywhere else. You will probably pay a good penny for it though as these guys aren't cheap. But hey, they do offer layaway! Huge store with different vendors! Very clean with great ambiance! Open every day! It's one of my favorite for gifts!

  • Pros: Large selection, Unique items, Clean bright store
  • Cons: Location is far north, Can be pricey
