Amazing Greek Food!!! Wonderful Service! Elegant Atmosphere!

Costa's is one of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. Everything I have ever ordered here has been delicious. The service is wonderful: really old-fashioned, non-invasive but entertaining, the waiters look out for your best interests. One of the best things I've eaten here was the stuffed chicken breasts, but I also love the Athenian chicken and the Moussaka. Absolutely DO NOT LEAVE COSTA'S WITHOUT THE CHOCOLATE BAKLAVA. They bring out a beautiful dessert tray, but if you choose the chocolate baklava the waiter will give you a little nod indicating that you made the right choice. The atmosphere is very elegant. This is a nice place to go on a special occasion or a date. At busy times, you will have to wait for a table, even though this place is expansive. The food here is not cheap, but it is justified by the quality. I am usually tempted to try some of the other restaurants in Greek town, but I always return to Costa's and I never regret it. This is where all my Greek friends eat as well.
- Pros: Authentic and Traditional, Great Food, Service
- Cons: Pricey
A low-key, elegant setting for authentic Greek cuisine.

The Scene
While many Greektown restaurants encourage a boisterous atmosphere, Costa's is peaceful and sophisticated. Close tables fill two dining rooms, and Greek disco music plays in the background. Service is polite, but not ebullient--for example, saganaki (flaming fried Greek cheese) is served quietly, with no shouts of "Opa!" to be heard.
The Food
Large portions of Greek specialties start with outstanding appetizers: Dolmades (stuffed grape leaves) are huge and tasty, while stuffed, grilled calamari features a terrific presentation of two large calamari stuffed with cheese and herbs, then sliced and served on a bed of greens. Lamb and seafood are the highlighted entrees. Enormous lamb chops are broiled to perfection, while roast leg of lamb is cooked just right and served in thick, tender slices. Whole snapper and sea bass are simple--topped with olive oil, lemon and oregano. Greek diner standards (pastitsio, moussaka, etc.) are also standouts.
- Pros: Great lamb
- Cons: A little crowded
