Nicest Waxer in Town

I have been going to Daniela for years now, and each time I see her I'm more pleased than the previous visit. Her inviting manor sets you at ease as soon as you walk into her cozy salon and if she hasn't made macaroons, there's always tea and wine to tempt your palate. My skin has made a dramatic improvement since I began using her products 3 months ago, and now I can't imagine using anything else. Her pricing is more than reasonable considering the all-star treatment you receive in her care. My first waxing experiences elsewhere were horrific. Most of the women were stand-offish and made an already uncomfortable situation worse. However, Daniela's ability to keep you relaxed while performing tricky procedures, in the most intimate of places, makes me return again and again. About 8 months ago, I was going through a difficult financial stretch and was unable to treat myself to the luxury of waxing. Daniela noticed my absence from her books and gave me a call. As we played catch-up, and I filled her in on my past few months, she was moved by my hardship and invited me in for a facial on the house. "It sounds like you need someone to do something nice for you. Please, let me give you a facial!" That's a direct quote. I often joke with Daniela about becoming rich and famous and hiring her as my personal aesthetician. I recommend that before that happens, you see for yourself what the hype is all about. You won't be disappointed.

Love Daniela;s Studio!

I?ve been getting waxed sine I was 16, which never went so well until I found Daniela about 3 years ago. Now at 24 I happier happy as can be with my waxes!! My skin is so sensitive that I?ve never been able to shave and now that it summer I thank god for Daniela?s amazing hands. She is the only one who can wax me and leave my skin perfect. I have never found anyone who is so fast, amazing, efficient, and kind. Daniela is the only one I trust with my sensitive skin and she the only one everyone should go to!!! Anna

Master Waxer!

Daniela is AWSOME! Aside from being one of the most positive people I've ever met, she's knowledgeable, fast, effecient, and yes, CLEAN! I've been waxing for 10 years now and I've been going to Daniela's for the last 3. Even if she were not the person she is, I'd still never go anywhere else. I used to go every 6 weeks to expensive fancy places, and have the same growth each time (2 weeks of almost no hair, then 4 weeks of hair), and the growth amount never really changed. Then I want to Daniela's on the recommendation of a friend and she explained why every 3-4 weeks is better (too long to explain here). I started to notice less growth each time after about 5 appointments, which means at any time I never have most of my hair present. I don't think there's anything wrong with her pointing out that that's why she keeps her prices reasonable. In fact, she actually had the integrity to tell me when I was ready to come every 5 weeks because there was so little hair each time! The hair never seemed to be broken off, and even my ingrowns (which were the BAIN of my exisitence) started to go away after waxing with Daniela! Also, where else do you have someone who not only sanitizes her hands before each person, but also sanitizes the skin of the entire bikini area with an alcohol-based _numbing_ liquid? She uses a powder before waxing, too, which really makes a difference in the pain and the usual irritation, and follows the waxing with a lotion that is just to DIE for! Daniela makes it herself! It's so soothing and cooling (it feels like there's mint there, but it smells like there's probably tea tree and lavender, too), I never leave all red like I used to, never bumpy or with the painfull irritation I used to just accept as par for the course. As for cleanliness? I don't know what the other reviewer was talking about, I've never had a problem there, and the place looks totally fine to me. I'd say think twice before going anywhere else!!

• Cons: Parking can be kind of dicey, so try to get there at least 5-10 min. sooner

Think twice!

Sorry to say but I gave this spa more than one chance and I'd never return. I only had waxing services there and within a week my hair was growing back. This does not happen when I've waxed at upscale spas such as Elizabeth Arden............my hair starts to grow back in 3 weeks. The wax used at the better know spas is higher quality and the hair is pulled out from the root not broken off at the skin surfice like it appeared to happen more than once with Daniela.

Another negative is the poor level of cleanliness of the spa, bed you lay on and the work area/tools she uses. She doesn't wear gloves when waxing (your privates) and I developed bumps that I thought were ingrown hairs but my dermo. said were most likely caused from bacteria during waxing. Not cool!

Wouldn't you wear gloves when in contact with a stranger there?

The owner was quick to point out that her prices were lower than most spas but I quickly returned to Elizabeth Arden where I've waxed the last 6 years and only need the service once a month vs. twice a month at Daniela's. In the end you'll spend more with the many trips you'll have to make to Daniela's.

Services at this skin-care studio located underneath the Restoration Salon aren't just limited to the face as the name would suggest. Lincoln Park customers come here for waxing, jewelry, body treatments, makeup and aromatherapy, too. Waxing and facial treatments are done in a small private room, and products--including name brands like Bioelements and Mark Lees--are sold in the front reception area. A makeup station also shares the main space.
