Massage chairs provide relaxing refuge in America's busiest airport.

by Contributor at Citysearch

The Scene
Next to the security checkpoint/exit area in O'Hare's Terminal Three, this small, locally owned kiosk shares retail space with national chains like Chili's and Sunglass Hut. Unlike them, however, BackRub Hub doesn't technically have a store, rather an alcove outfitted with tall, self-standing cabinets that separate professional massage chairs. A smattering of lotions and other easily transportable personal-care items await purchase atop a counter at front.

The Services
As the business name and simple set-up suggest, upper-body massages constitute the extent of the offerings. They're skillfully administered by licensed massage therapists in final-boarding-call-friendly increments-- ranging from 10 to 30 minutes. Stressed business-travelers and anxious vacationers have their necks, shoulders and backs kneaded without having to remove their clothing or fuss with appointments. Management claims that loyal passenger-clients schedule layovers here--instead of Atlanta--in order to indulge in this unique airport amenity.
