beware special nights/holidays

by clwar

Three adults dined on Dec. 24 and it was my worst experience at this restaurant. The entree arrived after a 2 hour wait. Two of the three entrees, after the long wait, were served at a barely warm temperature (should have been hot).

On inquirying, we were told that the kitchen was just overwhelmed due to seating substantially more guests that could be handled with acceptable service.

Normally very good food, but stay away from "special" nights/holidays.

Your Palette Will Never Be the Same

by fox7880

My wife and I dine at Isabella's any chance we get. I can't believe that last review...rude staff? Hardly! The staff is one of the reasons that we continue to dine at Isabella' s on a regular basis. The staff and food go hand in hand. Bacon wrapped chorizo dates and foie gras parfait with asiago brioche and kumquat marmalade are to die for! Try the spring vegetable ravioli and the cous-cous crusted butterfish. As for the desserts...strawberry rhubarb crisp is heavenly! Isabella's is a must...your palette will never be the same!

Didn't even eat

by cvq

My husband and I went to Isabella's but did not get the chance to eat. The hostess gave me a very unexplicable dirty look when I walked through the door and was uppity and rude when I inquired about getting a table. Won't try them again.

  • Pros: Rude staff

Great Mediterranean Food

by spalmiere

This great restaurant offers a great array of Medditaranean food. It is Unique to the tri-cities area. We enjoyed everything from the cheese platter appetizer, to the lamb for dinner, and the desserts. They have a VERY knowledgeable wait staff, and service is an A+. However, I do not reccomend this restaruant for children below the age of 10.

  • Pros: Food is GREAT
  • Cons: Not reccomended for kids

WOW

by rks314

The restaurant was busy on Saturday night, we had 8:30 reservations and had a drink at the bar. We were in from NYC visitng some good friends. We had a few appetizers, but clearly the standout was the smoked bacon wrapped dates stuffed with goat cheese. Absolutely out of this world! My wife had the Halibut, I had lamb chops. Everything was excellent, service, wine list, atmosphere. Geneva is a great little town, I cannot wait to get back!.

So Pleased

by lh234

What a fantastic place. The service was excellent, the food--out of this world, and the atmosphere was bustling and fun. We can't wait to visit in warm weather to dine on the back patio. Our only disappointment was that we didn't try it out sooner! But this first visit will not be our last. Bravo!

  • Pros: educated staff, amazing food, unique dishes

Extremely disappointing

by wyattfoard

I brought in out of town guests and family and was embarassed by the service at this restaurant. The food and ambiance were overshadowed by the poor service we received. Our waiter at best was inexperienced and at worst purposefully rude and condescending. A few pointers, do not ask for ID from 5 people in a party of 6, leaving out one woman in the same age group, do not wait 30 minutes to inform someone that the entree they ordered in not available that evening, do not ask a customer how to make the cocktail they ordered (go ask your bartender), do pour wine when a bottle is ordered, and do not speak down to any member of a dining party.

Exceptional restaurant

by jbnjohnson

A truly wonderful experience. I strongly recommend this restaurant. The food was great, the staff is knowledgeable and efficient, and the wine prices were the best I've seen at a place of this caliber. You must get out and try this place. Oh yes, don't skip desert either.

  • Pros: Wine prices, Great staff

Quaint Geneva plays host to contemporary Mediterranean cuisine in a chic space.

by Contributor

The Scene
Well-heeled west suburbanites relax in this airy dining room that's done in neutral colors, with white tablecloths and hardwood floors. Some artifacts and rustic furnishings add warming touches; large windows overlook Geneva's quaint State Street.

The Food
Sean Eastwood's creative, contemporary Mediterranean cuisine is a welcome diversion from familiar fare. For starters, a mound of tender steamed mussels is bathed in thick tomato sauce, fragrant with Pernod; crisp fried zucchini cakes get an intriguing treatment with classic Greek cucumber-yogurt salad, dressed micro-greens and a drizzle of red-pepper coulis. Whole grilled fish may show up as a simple striped bass with Swiss chard, or as a plump, meaty dorade stuffed with autumn vegetables. Penne arrives in rich sauce of succulent braised lamb shank, cured Meyer lemons, green olives and feta. Gulf prawn risotto with wild mushrooms is another tempting seafood option.
