Worst of the Worst

I've actually worked for 3 of the 4 carriage companies in Chicago.

I'm glad JC Cutters is closed, they have always been awful.

WHATEVER YOU DO, do NOT take a ride from Chicago Horse and Carriage, they're even worse to their horses than JC Cutters. Chicago Horse and Carriage needs to be shut down.

Nobel Horse, they're OK, they're not stellar in their treatment of their horses, but they are far from abusive to them. I've heard rumor that they were closing, by the owner's choice, but I haven't confirmed that.

Antique Coach & Carriage is the best one out of all of them IMO, the owner takes really good care of her horses...enough that most of them are a wee bit chubby, and a very happy bunch :P

No kindness of Humanity for this critic

In reference to the women who feels the employee should be fired. It is my sincere hope you never have a health need. You clearly are not a moral faith filled person. Possibly your partner should have selected an activity more appropriate to your liking. Ever consider a paded cell. Which would be equal to living a life alone. Which is how you will end up if you live this life of hate over another human beings health issue. How sad for your children some day. God forbid they become ill and inconvience you and your life.

Abuse

I wanted to take my family for a carriage ride for Christmas and decided to search the internet for a carriage company to make reservations with. After searching I came across the YouTube abuse videos on this company. Whatever you do please do not use this carriage company.

• Pros: there are videos on the internet of this company abusing their horses.

ridiculous

I am the fiance of paul (comment below) , no thanks to j.c. cutters. I feel horrible for the man I love that he went to so much trouble for me and Michelle at J.C. Cutters had to ruin everything. I mean, come on, stopping for pizza during a carriage ride?! When after numerous attempts we actually got a hold of someone at the company their only excuse was that Michelle is a diabetic and probably needed food immediately. I'm sorry but in the world of customer service it is not my problem to care what kind of ailment your employees have. This woman should be fired and all others should boycott this company's rides.

• Pros: the concept of a carriage ride is nice but not with this company
• Cons: bums in the park, bad customer service, employees stop for pizza during ride

Worst Carriage ride ever!!!!!!

I wanted to propose ot my Girlfriend in Aug. of 2006, I had made reservations ahead of time for a specific spot, they never took me to this spot. The Carriage rider said that they did not have this scheduled. She took me to a park that was filled with Bums. I never proposed there, she then said she had not eaten all night so she had a pizza delivery guy waiting at the next corner could she pick up the pizza. She did anyhow no matter what we said, she continued the ride with the pizza as her side kick. I was so angry that I told her to pull over and to stop. So the plans I had to propose to my G-Friend was ruined. Also trying to contact these people after words is impossible, they do not return calls cause they know that there business is shotty and they rip people off, just as the others comments state. DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE PEOPLE THEY ARE HORRIBLE.

Ruined my anniversary

I made reservations with this company 2 months in advance. It was my 10th anniversary and I wanted to make it special for my wife. Carriage was reserved for a 10:00pm pick-up at the Four Seasons. They never showed. I concierge told me the carriage stand was one block over so we walked. One carriage was there and she claimed we had no reservation. I prepaid for this and the carriage company was to provide us with wine and roses. That never happened.

• Pros: can't think of any yet
• Cons: Inflated prices, disorganized

Worst service in the city

I made a reservation. These people never showed up and refused to refund my money. They claim there was a mistake and want to give me a raincheck date. Well, it was for my wedding. A raincheck date will not help me.
