Hard to locate but Great Italian Restaurant
by RobertSinai
The only tricky thing here is that there is no sign outside. its next to Letizias bakery. We are bi weekly Italian food eaters, and we find ourselves coming here twice a week. Great Pastas, great fish, great appettizers. Simple, yet incredible italian food. Also quite laid-back service while still knowlesdgeable about the wine.
We had a bithday dinner party for 15 friends and we did their family style dinner which was incredible reasonable (Maybe $35 bucks per person) and we left the place happily full!
Highly reccomended, if you can find it!!!!
- Pros: Great for large group Dining
- Cons: Hard to Find your first time - there is no sign
Best pasta in Wicker Park!
by mresco
So I hadn't been in this place in a long time, probably 2 years and I could not belive my taste buds! Not that that last time was bad, but the food was just the same old "wine-bar" food. I am pleasantly surprised to report that their menu is now awesome! great Bruchetta Flights (combination of 4), and their polenta too. It was served soft (creamy style) on a piece of granite and had a venison sauce served on top. It was delicious and like nothing else I've ever had. What really amazed me was the pastas. yes, plain old pasta whose flavors and textures were reenergized by the use of very simple yet well put together ingredients. We had spaghetti con le vongole which was a thick hollow noodel with little neck clams ina spicy carlic and olive oil sauce. It was burstig with flavor! My boyfriend had gnocchi (i thjink it was whole wheat gnocchi) in a cherrytomato, mozzarella sauce and he loved it. Ona second visit I had Bucatini Cecilia(SP?) it was a hollow lomg pasta noodle tossed inbutter parmesan sauce with Prosciutto. That dish unexpectedly blew us away and will guarantee our return!
Another plus was the server which reccomended the wine pairing. I appreciated not only the pairing, but the fact that he did not try to pair with the most expensive wines. All in all, a great experience!
- Pros: pastas, Wine selection, service
- Cons: Limited seating in winter months and tends to get packed

Attached to Letizia's Natural Bakery, this Wicker Park wine bar focuses on light Italian fare and wines from all over the world.
Overpriced, unimaginative

I'd been to Enoteca Roma once before, but my latest (and last!) experience was a definite disappointment. Wine list seemed to be interesting, but left me wanting to find a place with better selections. What you have to pay for these is unacceptable -- absolutely no quality!
And don't get me started on the food... while the ingredients were certainly fresh, the prices were way too high for simple pizza or bruschetta. Come on, guys... this is a slab of bread with some stuff on top!
Romantic? Sure. Nice setting? Unarguably. But not worth the price for substandard food and wine.

Atrocious service. Decent food and nice concept, but lack of execution ruins the experience. Expect to leave annoyed, frustrated, and late.
- Pros: good wine selections
- Cons: speed of service, friendliness
Great Dinner!
by talmak_j
I don't know why I had such a great time here. It could have been our dinner, everything was so fresh, simple and outstanding! (Very refreshing not to have the ususal winebar fare only) It Could be that my husband loved the wine list and that we enjoyed a bottle of this Pahlmeyer wine, which is in fairly short supply. Our waitress was very friendly, and knowledgeable about the wine but not overbearing. I definitely will be back, it's a great place for a date but I think it would also be fun with a large group, given that all menu items are made to share it could make for a fun evening of conversation and wine sipping on a cold winter night!
- Pros: Food Menu, Friendly Staff, Laid Back
- Cons: gets packed
Great Selection of wine
by sorenrenj
Love the suprisingly huge wine list here. Many choices by the glass! We had a great office party, and the staff was very accomodating. I hope they get valet soon, since it's going to be winter!
- Pros: Friendly, Wine List
- Cons: No VAlet Yet
Grilled Egggplant From Paradise!
by orourkel
Yesterday was our second trip to Enoteca, and the specials were great. We had this Grilled eggplant, marinated in fresh garlic Olive oil and Parsley served with a side of goatcheese, toasted homemade bread and the thinnest Prosciutto, almost like a build your own crostini thing. The resulting combination was stellar! You know I've had eggplant a million ways and it often just isn't good, but this really changed my outlook! The server suggested this crisp white wine from southern Italy that cut through the myriad of flavors...
The best thing: that the food comes out in no particular order, so it's perfect for a long relaxed evening. This place is not where you sit down, shove down food and get the bill to rush out to a movie. They encourage you to share the food, and have a relaxed evening, a novel concept on a friday night in Chicago!
- Pros: Grilled Egglplant!, Wine pairing, Trained Staff
