Great sushi and seafood...the best!

by tyronebiggs at Citysearch

I loved everything about this place. It was beautiful on the inside, the waitstaff was among the best, and the food was absolutely marvelous. We must have ordered every piece of sushi available. I think this place is better than Shaw's in every aspect.

  • Pros: The seafood and sushi!
  • Cons: None

Fun, Good, a strong recommend for a date.

by TheDruggist at Citysearch

Terrific Food. Service was even better. We enjoyed our evening. Even the music fit the restaurant. It was a simple date with my wife. Just the two of us. Our waiter gave us enough time to enjoy the evening but did not leave us wondering where our food or drinks were. The meal with drinks took 90 minutes. The menu is varied but easy for my wife to choose a shrimp cocktail...simple but fresh and good. I started with fresh oysters on a half shell. Our waiter, Keith had extensive notes on the qualities of the various types of oysters. They were very fresh and exactly as described. We settled on entres until Keith described a terrific poached lobster special...My wife was sold and not disappointed with the choice. My Halibut was perfect and the grilled asparagus was the ideal complement. It is a little loud and the tables close together but somehow it just seemed part of the atmosphere. All in all I give it a strong recommend. Not cheap but worth it.

  • Pros: Service, Food, Atmosphere
  • Cons: a little pricey

Avoid this restaurant

by DottieMccarthy at Citysearch

My brother & I were directed to this restarant by the 4 Points Sheraton. This restaurant is very pricy, food portions very small. Service was OK but for a restaurant to serve french fries with a $40 steak was appalling. We were offered dessert after the manager came over to check our complaint. Adjusting the bill would have been more appropriate. Would not recommend this restaurant.

  • Pros: Ambience

Really Good Food!

by karenmichelle at Citysearch

My parents and I showed up without a reservation and were seated immediately. The service was excellent, and the food was amazing! It's VERY expensive, but if you want a nice celebratory night out, this is the place!

  • Pros: great food, good location
  • Cons: expensive

Worst place for a dinner program in Chicago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pharma reps stear clear!!!!!!

by Drugrep at Citysearch

The only reason they got one star is because the food was marginal at best. Everything else was a rip off! We were lied to about a food and beverage minimum $2500, We only had 11 people and were charged almost $3000 for 4 bottles of wine and 11 so so meals. After we addressed this when the bill came we were told there was nothing they could do because the manager of the special events was not in to deal with this issue.

Then we were told by the female manager on duty that she was going to charge the program to the "house" and not our cards and we could fix the issue in the morning with the manager. She then turned around and charged our cards after we left!!!!!!!!!! We only found this out because we called our credit card co the next day and they had run the total through without our approval!! It has been 5 days now and we still are unable to get a reciept for our meals for expense purposes. And the management at Blue Water is usless at getting anything done or giving a answer to any questions.

If you want to be lied too, over charged, treated with no respect, and given the run around then by all means book an event at this place.

There are hundreds of other places where you will be treated well and not ripped off and lied to. Every rep in the city will be getting a notice to never use this venue again. If you want to avoid having the same problems then I would stay away.

BWG was recommended by the concierge at the Hyatt....big disappointment!!! Seating was prompt and waiter was fine. Presentation of food was fine; portions very small but the worst was the food was awful Everything was very very salty!!!! Also Sushi seemed over priced to the California crowd. Would not return.

Great Restaurant - Great Food!

by sillybillyteely at Citysearch

After being turned away from Joe's and Shaw's, we wandered into BWG, so glad we did. More locals dine here, very sophisticated restaurant, great decor, delicious food, awesome wine menu (had 2 bottles). One of the best meals I've had in Chicago. Being lactose-intolerant, I was able to enjoy sorbet for dessert-yeah! The Chilean sea bass was great, and the sushi was outstanding! The service was slow, and our bottle of wine was across the room, so we told her to put the bottle on the table. Other than the slow service, our food took about an hour to come out, it was still great. Gave us time to talk, and we were not rushed. Will go back!

  • Pros: Great food, will seat you promptly, nice decor
  • Cons: In a hurry? service is slow

worth a shot

by rashad83 at Citysearch

As we arrived we were seated in a timely manner. Our server was helpful and the food was good but not the best seafood in town. My only complaint is that the food arrived really quick which gave no time for conversation and enjoyment of our dinner.

  • Pros: Decor, food
  • Cons: Way too Fast service.
