The asinine door guy told me and my friends they were at capacity (at 10 PM) and we could only go inside as the appropriate number left. We'd have gladly left, except half our party was already inside. The door guy knew this and used it to his advantage to keep us in line for a half hour. A line for Kerryman?? Please. The place was incredibly empty once we got inside, and the music beyond lame. And conveniently, the one in-one out bs was apparently out the window a few, as we saw people coming in by the dozens. I still can't believe the pompous door guy. With all the other great places in the neighborhood, you REALLY think there's a real need for a line at Kerryman? Never again.

Pros: roomy inside, since it's rather empty

Cons: pompous door-guy, music

I went to The Kerryman on the suggestion of an old college friend that lives in Chicago. We arrived around 9pm, so getting a stool at the bar wasn't an issue. Overall solid bar with good service. A little too clean of an Irish bar for me though.

On a recent trip to Chicago we were walking around one afternoon not far from the hotel and we ran into Kerryman. Lucky we did, as this place is fantastic. It was mid afternoon and only about a quarter full down stairs. The bar tender was very pleasant and answered all our touristy question. As more and more staff showed up for the dinner shift they all said hello as they came in or passed by. We stayed and had dinner, WOW! It was awsome. The macaroniand cheese was the best thing I had while in Chicago, over the top good. After dinner we decided to walk around and see what else was in the area. After going to a few other places we found ourselve back at Kerryman. the staff greated us agina and welcomed us back. Will definately return on the next trip to Chicago and I can't wait foor more Kerryman Mac & Cheese.

Pros: Staff, Food, Atmosphere

Cons: Not in the City I live in :(

I was in there last Saturday in the downstairs bar 02/04/06 and I have to say the service was just excellent! I was actually treated like ROYALTY! The bartender was Irish and couldnt have done enough for me. Very friendly and very well groomed! I had the Cheescake and OH MY GOD never tasted anything like it! Who ever the chef is in there he knows his stuff! Some of these people that write nasty reviews on this "Classy Irish Bar" are really having a bad day as I have no fault with this place! Love it and am going back next week with friends.

Pros: excellent staff, ambience, classy

Cons: no parking, none, none

I was extremely disappointed in this new irish pub. Not only is the atmosphere NOT authentic, the staff is so snobby and unresponsive that it is not worth the money. I was in Ireland 4 months ago and the service was never quite like this. I'm assuming the wait staff is stuffy to appeal to a trendy clientele. Will never go back again. PS, we sat at the bar on a Thurs evening and it took several minutes for the bartender to even look at us as he was chatting with other staff. Once we were served, he never even asked if we wanted another beverage. We were dressed nice too, what's the deal?

Pros: Nice wood paneling, Decorative, Guinness

Cons: Bad service, No personality, Not irish at all

If you have much more money in your pocket than you'd need to have a good time at a traditional Irish pub, head to the Kerryman for a much more authentic (yet much more expensive) evening. The food is great and the servers are knowledgable (for how new a bar it is), but you pay a premium for the newness and the ambiance.

Pros: Authentic Irish, Good food, LARGE interior

Cons: Expensive, Slow service

They did a beautiful job at remodeling this place - it is bigger than you think and they did a great job with the set up. The food, service and ambience was great. I will definitely be back.

Pros: clean, great staff

Went to this pub on a recent biz trip to Chicago and LOVED IT. Gorgeous, airy space, authentic Irish staff (who are really friendly) and the food -- delicious!! We had dinner, and it was an excellent mix of pub grub and Irish classics. The shepherd's pie is great, the burger is HUGE and the fries come served w/ vinegar. Wash it all down with a Guinness. I'll be back next time I'm in town for sure!

Pros: Great food, Nice space, Friendly staff

Cons: Not too hoppin'

I recently stumbled upon this bar and was pleasently surprised at the experience. I really enjoyed my evening. My waitress was a very friendly Irish girl who couldn't be more helpful. The food was amazing and the decor is fantastic. Be sure to take a good walk around as there are 3 floors to see. Definately a place I will return very soon.

Pros: Service, Food, Ambiance
