What a Salon!

My name is Melissa and for the past 6 months I've been looking online and found Evolution Hair Salon. So I went and checked it out and the salon was like the home I never had. My stylist Moulouka was so helpful and friendly and she really tried to make me feel relaxed. I got a blonde color and cut service from her and let me tell you no one in chicago does it like her! This is the best salon by my standards and If you go here you'll never regret it!

Ladies and Gentlemen! I just got a call from my Hairstylist and got the news that he is joining in The Evolution Hair Salon Team

It is so awesome that Javier,ALSO know as JT. is going to work in this Salon,which i'm so happy to have him close by,so for those who don't know what a great cut/style is? you should visit or have a consultation with him,he is one of the best hairstylist,make-up artist,and color technician in Chicago,btw he does awesome bridal Up-do's for any occasion,so I highly recommend him.

excellent haircut at a resonable price

I was delighted to discover evolution hair salon on belmost and halsted 18 months ago and have been a regular customer of theirs ever since.I have tried quite a few hairdressers in Chicago and this place is definitely the best. Malouka is an expert in several different types of hair styles,high lights and coloring and I have been more than satisfied every single time I have been there.They work a very flexible schedule and drops in are always welcome without much of a wait.I would definitely urge you to visit this place and I am sure you will want to keep coming back.

Awesome Hairstylist and Friendly and Easy Going Atmosphere

I have been coming to Evolution Hair Salon for about 3yrs now. When 1st moved to Chicago I had really hard time finding a stylist who could manage very long (waist length) and thick hair. When I finally found Moulouka, I was relieved to find someone who could give me a relaxer without chemical burns which is very typical because it so hard to apply a relaxer to so much hair in a short time. She also blowdrys my hair very straight without the need to use a flat iron. No one has ever been able to do that with my hair. What's more, there prices are very reasonable, Molouka has yet rise my prices, even though my hair keeps getting longer. They are friendly, always offering refreshments and offer to feed your meter when you are being served. I highly recommend Moulouka and her staff, they are friendly, talented and provide services for all her types.

High quality service

Moulouka's been doing my hair ever since I moved to the neighborhood, about four years ago. She always does a great job with cut and color, with little to no direction from me. My hair is curly and frizzy, and she gives it a deep conditioning treatment and makes it look good, whether I decide to go curly or have it blown out straight. For the services rendered, the prices are very reasonable, too. The salon staff is also flexible and willing to schedule appointments in the evenings and on weekends. Highly recommended.

Awesome salon!

Being in Chicago for only two months now, I picked this salon because of the good reviews on this site and despite the bad : ) and it was definitely the best choice. Mouluka, my hairdresser, did an excellent job, I think I got the nicest haircolor I ever had! Although I was totally undecided what I wanted to have, she coloured my hair in a colour that suited me perfectly. Plus, she was really nice and friendly. (And the coffee I got was pretty good :))

The salon itself is pretty nice, I really liked the style, because it is small and charming.

I'd definetly go again!

Worst experience ever

Let me just start off saying-I wish I've never gotten onto this site and got influenced by all the reviews and haven't gone to that place as a result.

I haven't gotten a haircut in almost 3 years-that's because I took great pride in my beautiful,below-the-waist long,dark,healthy,shiny hair.I wanted to pick the hair salon carefully not to regret anything they could do to it.I went to Evolution with a big picture in my hand,showing a close up of the exact style I wanted,to avoid any misunderstandings.I just wanted a little trim,between 1-2 inches(I made sure to explain that as clearly as possible to my stylist),a few layers in the front and some caramel+auburn low lights.And what did I get?The very acclaimed Mouluka turned me into a semi blonde and she totally chopped off my hair,leaving it at a shoulder length.Her only comment was"Oh,I cut a lot",like nothing happened,even though I specified how concerned I was about leaving it as long as possible.I don't dye my hair or torture it with any experiments,it was perfectly fine,there was no need whatsoever to cut it.Then instead of adding a few low lights,she practically dyed my hair orange blonde,Since I'm a dark brunette,it made me look really stupid,so she also dyed my eyebrows to match my hair.That didn't help the cause at all either,I still looked horrible.After styling my hair her"masterpiece"was finally ready-I looked like a wet dog with flat,orange-yellowish hair and auburn eyebrows.That whole experience cost me $180 and 2 days of crying.I had to go to another place to get it fixed.I had,for another $140,but even though I had it dyed back to dark brown and the bad cut got fixed,I couldn't get my hair glued back and 3 years of growing it went to a waste.

I don't know how on Earth Mouluka got all those positive reviews on this site,but when she was done with me I literally wanted to strangle her with my bare hands.

I never write reviews,but this experience was so horrible I just had to warn whoever I can.BEWARE!

Job Interview Saviors

Not normally a Reviewer here, but I just had to put in the good word for these ladies.

It was a cold wet day, right before an important job interview early the next morning that I had just scheduled that afternoon.

I was turned down at two other salons nearby because of how late it was, and this salon took me right in and made me look fabulous! I never was happier with looking truest to my natural self.

Most Importantly, I was a frequent bleacher, coloring my hair blue, purple, and green for the past 3 years. You probably know that it takes a lot of processing to get a dark brunette to a light blonde to make those colors look bight and attractive.

My styist corrected my dead bleached hair to my natural color, and deep conditioned it to bring it to life! Now I can grow it out once again, while looking Chic and professional at my new job!

I highly recommend them and will be back!

Fabulous!!!

The atmosphere is very approachable. I can relax in the intimate surroundings and the service is wonderful. The price is extremely affordable and the staff or very knowledgable. Can't wait until my next appointment. Wonderful salon!
