Kumas is the best burger u will ever eat. It honestly is the most creative burger joint in the chi. I don't know how people can post bad things about this place. If anybody was to ask where should I go for a burger I would say KUMAS CORNER!!!
Not all it was cracked up to be!

Ok, I get this place is "gourmet" burgers and all, but why are the fries not hand cut? That would be a good place to start. Next I've had better burgers, and just as inventive ones, so the real questions is, is it the ambiance? Probably. I was there on the Friday over Memorial Day Weekend, and it was packed. Sure the wait was an hour to get a seat, but for real, why another hour for a burger and fries? There were three people at our table, and none of us ordered any of the more complicated burgers. Mine was something actually akin to a Red Robin burger. So if you must have ear splitting death metal, and slasher movies on the big screen this is the place for you. If you want a good burger without all the madness skip this place. Chicago is jammed with awesome burger joints I'd suggest one of them instead.
- Pros: good food, but not good enough!
- Cons: wait was 2 hrs, music was ear splitting
Can't comment on the food, but service was subpar.

I heard great things about the place and anticipated a long wait. So, a group of 6 of us showed up and was told it was going to be an hour and a half wait which we anticipated. We were patient, got some beers and waited. We began to notice that people that showed up after us were getting seated, and we asked what the deal was. The lady playing hostess just told us to wait and she will seat us as soon as possible. Trying to be accomodating, we waited for the alloted 1.5 hours. At that point, we have seen at least 4 groups who arrived after being seated. We asked again what the deal was and was told that because we are a party of 6, she can't seat us until a party of 4 and a party of 2 leave... yet she has been seating those people before us. All she needed to do was anticipate which two tables relatively close together is leaving, and hold them. But that would obviously require too much brain power to do. She obviously don't get that when you have a wait list, you sit people according to the waitlist as much as possible.
I would only go there if you are in a group of 4 or less because otherwise, you will be waiting, literally, for eternity before getting a seat.
- Pros: food.. i guess if I was allowed to take a seat
- Cons: god-awful hostess
A Poseur Palace

Kuma's Corner has good food. I've been there with friends and family many times. However, it is hardly worth the wait or the the crushingly crowded experience. The service is mediocre. The waitstaff usually consists of one person, and the bartenders tend mostly to friends and regulars. The place is so small, and it's constantly over-capacity. I'm surprised it hasn't been shut down due to over-crowding.
Lastly... it used to be a metal bar, and has now become a scene/emo/rockabilly (they're all the same anyway) hangout.
Let's face it... that ruins any bar.
- Pros: Great food. Get there when no one else is around... like right when it opens.
- Cons: Scene kids. I mean, really... that's huge.
Can't Wait To Go Back

I saw this place on Check Please. I went to check it out with my brother, sister and nephews. The kids loved the burgers. The mac-n-cheese is to die for. I will definately be back for the food, and the bloody mary's were good too. I highly recommend this resturant.
Terrible customer experience

I've never thought that the service here is great but lately it's downright awful. The bartenders rarely look up to see if you need a drink and spend their time talking to people they know instead. Sorry if I'm not tatted up and in a grungy outfit but stop taking shots with your buddies and learn your craft before you start losing business, mine's already gone. Let me temper my comments by saying that some of the people that work there are great but a few need to go a.s.a.p. and I won't be returning.
- Pros: Great food
- Cons: service is terrible and usually non-existant
Best Burgers in Chicago
by eagles409 at Citysearch
I love burgers and I hate throwing around the term "best burger", but this is that place. The place is extremely small and only has about 12 tables, so be prepared to wait. The typical wait is about an hour, but I've been there when it was 2 and you couldn't move and had to wait outside. Everyone on the staff is tattooed and pierced and they couldn't be any friendlier. They don't serve Bud or Miller and have a sign to that effect, you'll have to choose a micro brew from their huge selection. As for the burgers, they are fantastic! Each burger is named after a heavy metal band and they are huge. The burgers come on a Labriola pretzel bun and they are pretty hard to get into your mouth. I usually order the Clutch burger, which is a fancy cheeseburger with 4 kinds of cheese and the cheese is about a quarter inch thick and melted all over the burger. Unfortunately besides the burger I've never had anything else at Kuma's, the burger is so big and so good there isn't room for anything else. If you like a big, juicy, well made burger, a huge beer selection and metal music, you have to try this place.
- Pros: Best burger in Chicago, huge portions, large beer selection, great value
- Cons: parking, looong wait
Perfect just the way it is...

...even without Bette Page. There is nothing better than a restaurant you walk into and can say to yourself, "Ah...I'm home!" Kuma's Corner is the an alt-rock/psycho-billy/rocka-billy juke joint with great music to compliment a great menu. It's located on Belmont, but far enough west to be free of the "Lincoln Park Trixies" and the parking clusterf*ck.
A rock & roll bar run by real rock & rollers who genuinely want their guests to have an excellent experience. Customer service is second to none. There's no pretension or snobby attitudes and the food comes out quick and fresh. The seating is comfortable, whether you're at a table or bellied up to the bar. There are great happy hour specials for food and drinks - give a call before you head over to find out if there is $2 pints and half priced burgers, or appetizer specials.
- Pros: Burgers
Great cheese burgers and amazing fries!
by alphafemalenitch at Citysearch
The food was great! We started with the pork fries. The smothered with BBQ pork and cheese and absolutely delicious! They have so many burgers to choose from and they all sound amazing!
The location is very small and was consistently busy. Our waitress was slow to take our order and to bring our check, but it was worth the wait!
- Pros: Great food!
- Cons: Service
After you eat at Kuma's Corner, you can die happy.

While I know there are not enough descriptive words in the English language to acurately define the superbness of this restaurant, I will make an attempt.
I could describe the fantastic taste of every dish, but I don't want to take up too much of you time, so I will simply say this:
YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
The food, the beer, the music, and the people make this without a doubt a fine dining experience like you have never had in your life.
All of our mothers are wonderful cooks, right? Imagine if you sent your mother to culinary school for 4 years, then took her best dish, paired it with the most complimentary beverage imaginable (ask Alex, he will know), and dined on it in the most comfortable yet, rockin' atmosphere ever to be created.
That is the Kuma experience. Fine cuisine (think comfort food) like your tastebuds could never imagine, an atmosphere that feels like home, and a staff that will keep you smiling.
You just can't go wrong with Kuma's-it's a good time with great people, great food & drink, and great music.
