Gourmet Mexican
by elenam at Citysearch
Perfect food! Check out the tamales of the day (chicken and pork mole are particularly good), and the list of tortas (Mexican sandwiches). The quesadillas are served in sets of three, and fillings include mushrooms, spinach, and cheese, and cuitlacoche and zucchini: small, flaky and delicate, and served with a side of fresh salsa. Salads are fresh and lightly dressed, mixed with fresh herbs, wonderfully varied in texture and taste and elegantly presented in wooden bowls.
Presentation is clearly a work of love. Every item is served on brightly colored plates matching the cafe's cheerful décor. Tamales are wrapped like little presents, the cornhusks tied neatly, salsa for contrast.
Desserts, not to be missed, include crisp slices of sugary pastry, cookies, and perfect little cups of tres leches cake,(available in half a dozen flavors). Coffee is also excellent, and quite strong.
- Pros: Fantastic food, Beautiful decor, Not crowded
- Cons: Prices not posted
