I warn you STAY AWAY from this place unless you like being treated poorly. We went here for my friends 21st b-day. She had talked to Melissa & planned it all. When we got in we saw the area set up for a b-day & were told that wasn't for our group. They said they couldn't reach her and her # was all the sudden disconnected the week of the party so they didn't set up an area for her or have the cake she ordered & now someone else was in her area for their b-day. Her 20 friends who came to the club to celebrate had called her at the same # all that week and got a hold of her just fine. The manager actually told us they don't make mistakes like that (double booking a party) and it was the b-day girls fault she didn't have a spot. Someone made a comment about race in a review below & my friend is the hot blonde that often gets into clubs for free & is the first to dance on the bar and live it up so they have equal discrimination there. We got to sit on the VIP couches but were moved around often when people got there who had reserved a table. Not the way you should be treated when you brought 20 people at $50 a pop. That's $1000! At the end of the night my husband was kicked out of the club because he tripped up the stairs. My husband is the least threatening guy you could imagine and there is no reason why he should have had to leave for that drunk or not. From reading these reviews & seeing what I saw it sounds like they pick people to kick out. As he was outside he told them he was disappointed with how the party happened & he wasn't coming back & the manager said "Can I have that in writing?" How rude and inappropriate! So just to let you know they are perfect like god they are the VIP & you are a nobody to them no matter how much you pay or what the occasion. If you like feeling this way definitely go to this place! The place looks like a 10 when you enter or see it online but the staff makes it a 0 & will run it into the ground.
Pros: beautiful atmosphere
Cons: beyond poor customer service

We went to Stone Lotus for my brother's 21st birthday and we had an awful experience. After reading many of the previous reviewers' comments, I have to agree with all of the negative things people are saying about this place. We paid for a VIP package, but unfortunately, we were not treated as VIP guests should be treated. The security staff was extremely rude, the bartenders did not know how to make anything beyond the basics, and the space was small and empty (on a Fri). We also had a guest in our party get kicked out shortly after we had gotten there, because the security staff maintained that they had seen him stumble. Our guest was no more intoxicated than any other person in that club, and if anything, there were quite a few guests that were more intoxicated. The "so-called drunk guest" told the security guards that we had taken a limo to the club and that the limo would not be there for another three hours. He then proceeded to ask the security guard if he could sit there (and not drink) and wait for the rest of his party to finish up. The security guard said that his staff could not watch the "intoxicated guest" and informed our guest he would have to wait outside in the cold. It honestly would not have been difficult for security to tell the two bartenders working to not serve this guest and for security to watch him. Again it is a small space and If they can spot people they believe are highly intoxicated amongst the small crowd, then they can spot a person who doesn't keep his word in a small crowd as well. I thought our incident was isolated at first, but after reading about a similar incident happening to someone else, I am beginning to think this is a ploy used by Stone Lotus to get large sums of money from people and then not let them enjoy the packages they paid for. We paid to have an open bar from 10-1, but were forced to leave before 12. I have been to a lot of clubs in my day, and this is the worst one yet!
Pros: nice decor
Cons: EXTREMELY poor service, bad music, small space

Poor and rude service. There is no room to move on weekends and you are treated like dirt as soon as you walk in. The smoke actually helps alleviate the pungent smell of sweat and euroT saturated in Armani cologne. Also it was great being swung at by the DJ after which I was being the one escorted out. Next time I feel like being attacked by the DJ and put into a headlock by security after dropping a hundred bucks, I know where to go...
Pros: nice atmosphere without the people
Cons: everything else

Even though I've never paid for a drink here- I've felt sorry for those generous gentlemen who have... Before last week however, I would've been indifferent about this place; never had a great time here but never really had an awful one either- until last week (see below and take into consideration what you'll tolerate from a stuck up establishment, lacking in diversity, in the year 2007) Some friends of mine were looking to host and book parties there. This is a diverse group of people looking to bring some diversity to an otherwise monochromatic club. One of the people involved was told, pretty much verbatim (by their female manager whose name starts with an M and ends with sa- I'm trying to be tactful, as hard as it is), that "they don't want too many Indians in the club on a Friday night..." then went on to say, "... if it's between a blonde-haired, blue-eyed woman at the door and an Indian, the Indian [person's] not getting in..." Ridiculous! And this is 2007? Open racism, discrimination and prejudice has indiscreetly shifted from being directed solely at blacks to all non blue-eyed, blonde-haired individuals on behalf of the management at Stone Lotus. Thanks again for reminding us all that we're still (no matter what status, religion or creed) living in the US of A! Had this not occurred, I wouldn't be so adverse to this "liquor spa"- never had a great time there but before this, couldn't day I'd had a horrible time either... Though it may of no concern to the management at Stone Lotus, you just lost the business of this customer and the business of as many other people I know as well.

I have been here twice with co-workers. We were very polite and professional so I do not understand the rude service we encountered both times. We also spent well over $2000 each visit. Mistakes were also made that they refused to correct. There were also other problems that I cannot mention due to the User Review Guides. Needless to say we will not be returning.
Pros: None
Cons: Bad Service, Serious Problems

I went there last weekend and got a table for a friend's birthday and was very disappointed. When we were moments from leaving, coats in hand and check paid, the guest of honor was escorted outside to stand alone without anyone in our party being told! They claimed he was too drunk. He wasn't bothering anyone or any more drunk then the rest of the people there. Also, we bought a table for 6, but only 4 could sit comfortably, 5 max. They claim this is "cocktail party" seating. You don’t get any food with a bottle anymore, although this is not reflected on the website, and the price is still the same. Finally, although there were several empty tables, the staff couldn't stop hassling us to be as squished together as possible. When you spend $300 for a bottle (and no food), you expect to be treated like a VIP, as we were not at all.
Pros: Atmosphere
Cons: Service, price, staff

If you are ever in Chicago on a Tuesday night Stone Lotus is where it's at... The drinks are reasonable and the treatment once you step foot in the doors is superb. Two thumbs up
Pros: High class anything goes

There was absolutely no line outside on a Saturday night at 10:30 PM but the door staff still demanded a $20 cover for guys! The place was packed inside which was great! The music was ok. The bartender although was very unhappy working where my friends and I had to continually ask her for drinks! We ended up staying all night ordering drinks from her and not once did she even offer to buy us a shot! Nor did any of the other bartenders ask us for drinks when they would obviously see that our glasses were empty. Very strange behavior from the bartenders!
Pros: Place was packed!
Cons: Unenthusiastic bartenders!

Stone Lotus has a lot of hype, but when I went there on a Saturday night there was no one there!! The inside of the bar is great- including the downstairs bar, which if you can get into is a little less crowded. I would not return to this bar.
Cons: There was no one there, but we couldn't sit because the couch is reserved for VIP seating!

I HAVE TO SAY THAT WHEN YOU ARE YOUNG AND BORED ON A TUESDAY NITE, THIS PALCE IS GREAT FOR A FEW MARTINIS AND MUSIC. THE LAYOUT IS AMAZING,IT'S KIND OF TRANQUIL WITH THE WATER RUNNING DOWN THE WALLS UPSTAIRS. THE ONLY THING IS THAT IF YOU WANT A TABLE YOU HAVE TO CALL WAY IN ADVANCE AND ON FRI AND SAT IT GETS A LITTLE TOO PACKED FOR A PLACE THAT SIZE.
