Took my friends here for a party, and we had the best time. The manager was fantastic and hooked us up with a great table. The waitress was wonderful - our glasses were never empty! And the music was hot - we danced all night! This bar has a great atmosphere, and combined with the great service - this is one of my favorite bars in Chicago!!! Definitely don't miss it!

Pros: great service, great music

Cons: smaller club - fills up quickly

I went to Jbar last Wednesday and what a great surprise! It had a very relaxed vibe, the music was great (Live DJ) and the crowd was diverse. The walls are all mirrors and the bar is lit by candles, very intamate appeal. People who go there look great, are very personable and def have a good time dancing. The cocktailer recommended the Pear-a dise martini and it was phenomenal.. No cover, great time! Will be back next Wednesday!!!

Pros: great looking crowd, wonderful service, no cover

I went to Jbar with a group of friends on a Friday night after hearing the buzz around town about this place. First we approached with no cover to get in, which was awesome since we had more money to drink now. Immediatley greeted by the manager who made us feel very welcome and introduced us to a Mina, a cocktail server, who took our drink order. Mina was nice enough to give us an open table in her station until some ballers decided to buy the table. Even though I'm not so much into the Euro house music the DJ was playing when we got there, he switched it up with an amazing mix of hip hop, club remixes of some popular top 40 songs and back to house. The music was on fire, people were dancing all over the place, the vibe and energy ran through your body. Awesome start to a very long weekend. Whatever it is those guys responsible for making Jbar happen on a nightly basis, continue to do that. We will be back for sure.

Pros: music and service

Cons: crowded in a small space

Jbar Sunday nights are where it's at. DJ is spinning the house beats and the most beautiful cocktail servers ever. Awesome ambience, great drink specials (I think vodka was like $5 a drink). Cannot go wrong with this place on this night. Crowd was fun, very different from the other nights I've been, but hip, trendy and energetic. If you're out and about on a Sunday night don't overlook Jbar.

Pros: Specials, DJ, NO COVER

Cons: Small

So I wrote a LONG review and right when I went to send it, my computer bombed. So here are the basics of it. Hot waitresses: Thick latina type, forighn blone, typical hot blonde and hot brazilian with BIG eyes. The service here was AMAZING. I had the brazilian type. She said her name is "J", but i don't believe her. She gave me great attentiveess and smiled the whole time. All of the waitresses work together as a team and help eachother get throuigh the crowd of drunkeness. What a display of team work! "J" also got us to order another bottle when we had only planned on ordering 1 in the first place. When I asked "J" where a good MOday spot hangout is, she not only recommended a place to go, but she got our names on the list so we souldnt have to pay a cover..I thought she was joking, but when I went there, sure enough my name was there! oh and the blonde forign chick came over and said hi which is awesome, bc we wern't even her table. The only thing that need altering is the coat check chicks attitude..She acts like she's either sleeping with the boss or she owns the place. Oh and there's NO COVER!!!, just mandatory coat check... I'd rather pay a cover thann deal with that again.

Pros: great service

Cons: expensive

So I took a bunch of my guy friends to the steakhouse in The James hotel, while not really planning to make it a long night, the server suggested we check out Jbar next door. They walked us through the back way, which totally impressed my buddies since it was so "Goodfellas", when we got in through the back door the manager met us with a smile & immediately gave us a table next to a hot bunch of girls celebrating a bachelorette party. Once again, totally impressed my friends & had the best time. The "early" night turned into a "3am" night. The Dj played great music (didn't catch his name), all the best tracks mixed in with rock and old school beats. Cristina was our cocktail server and she was awesome (and hot too). Fun night, definetly making Jbar one of my mainstays from now on. I haven't checked it out during the week, but if the weekend says anything about how great this place is, then I'll for sure be back during the week. This is a MUST SEE in the Chicago nightlife scene.

Pros: great staff, service, music, and hospitality

Cons: smaller than I thought it'd be so kind of tight when it got busy

Blah decor and cramped stool sitting atmosphere described jbar. The actual bar area is way too small to sit and socialize, and you are solely reliant on scantily clad waitresses to bring you drinks. The small stools and couches are very low, so it is hard for her to see you when you need another drink. Why anyone would flock to this bar when it is crowded and teeming with people is beyond me. You cannot move, you might trip over an extra low stool. Maybe this place is for the see and be seen, but I'd rather go somewhere else.

Pros: Ok wine.

Cons: Everything I don't want in a bar.

I met up with friends at J Bar and had a blast! Immediately, valet service greeted me at the door, the bouncer was friendly and even better no cover charge! When I walked in it was already packed at 11:30 PM which means the place is happening! The bartenders were all very nice and continually made sure my drink as well as my friends drinks were always filled! The crowd was just right, late 20 somethings to early 30's with none of the clubby crowd. Music was a plus too!

Pros: Great service! Awesome Crowd!

Cons: Pricey drinks

Got there when the bar was empty, staff told us that we would have to pay 250 dollars to continue sitting at the table we were at, that was marked "reserved" already rather than "for sale" that it should have been. We moved to a table with no such signs and were not bugged about the 250 until later in the evening....after our waitress snapped at us, we were moved to another waitress' territory. The mojitos are amazing but for any kind of service or comfort except to have to shell out for a table (however tiny).

Pros: Mojitos, good music, cool space

Cons: Bad service, sketchy outoftowner guys
