I hate corporate coffee shops and this is the totally opposite. I love it here!! I'll walk here to do some freelance work and I always get more done than I expected. The staff is chill, they don't really bother you. The internet connect is always fast. I've only tried an ice mocha and an iced chai tea latte, both pretty good. They do open mics on Wednesday, never been. They do random author readings and stuff which is awesome! It's nice to have a local coffee shop support local writers. They have some interesting local art decorating the walls. I really like this place, it's big, there are plenty of outlets. However, the lighting could be a little bit better in certain seating areas. If the music is too loud, just ask them to turn it down. I always bring headphones to drown out all noise. This is a great place to do work, grab something to go, or just hang out with a few friends.

The atmosphere of The Fixx is really cool. It's big and spacious and wide open and the couches are comfortable. This is all fine and dandy, but the coffee is really bad, and let's be honest, that's why we go to coffee shops. The latte's they make are way too foamy, they're worse than most cappuchinos i've had. I don't know what kind of espresso they use but it has a strange, bitter taste. I also ordered an iced latte and found that it tasted like somebody had just put cream in a hot coffee and then iced it, truly one of the worst iced latte's I've ever had. They should probably spend less time making the inside cool and start making their coffee taste good.
Pros: Atmosphere
Cons: Coffee

Very modern, black and red chairs with tan walls. Couches and a fireplace, both intimate and public. Has some pretty cool drinks, good sandwiches (only tried the turkey and the ham but so far so good!) The perfect place to sit with your laptop and take advantage of the free wifi. Not much advertising outside so it's a little hard to find, which makes it that much more special. Nice crew, comfortable, quiet, very chill. I give it a 9!

Because I ussually have to work on the weekends, I try to get out of my house and spend that time at different coffee shops in town. I have gone to Fixx on a number of occassions. I ALWAYS make a coffee purchase and ussually some sort of food purchase too. Yet everytime, the owner hounds me like I am going to try to pull a fast one on him and get free wi-fi. I completely understand that this is how their business stays afloat, but at least let a person get settled for a few minutes before they buy a drink. I have heard this same complaint from a number of people too. Also, the food is just average. It's ussually just sandwiches in a fridge. The atmosphere of this place, I will say, is really nice (other than the fact that they seem to have a hard time regulating the temperature). But the atmosphere and the close proximity aren't worth withstanding the demeanor of the owner. I will not be going to this spot anymore!

Yeah I thought it was bad service here too. Felt like some kind of high school hangout for tatooed and pierced people. I waited forever for the baristas to stop talking to their friends and take my order They should try to be cooler to customers if they want to compete with the chains.
Pros: free wifi, they have food
Cons: Cliquey, Dark, Bad service

I don't know what the person above was talking about with the "most obnoxious service ever" ... they either misinterpreted something or are thinking of the wrong place. The owners of The Fixx are always working hard and are always there to make your visit enjoyable. This place has a huge variety of interesting drinks -- much more than any chain, I'm sure -- plus food, games, live music, excellent albums playing when there isn't live music, comfy chairs and couches, good repeat customers, a vibrant atmosphere, and yeah... anything else you'd want or expect in your neighborhood coffee shop. Don't pick on the independent ones struggling to be an alternative to Starbucks and Caribou... come get to know the owners and hang out a bit, and you'll see why.
Pros: The best couches in the world, nice people, and good drinks.
Cons: Sometimes the heat is up a bit too high, so when I go in to read or write, I end up napping.

This place is relaxed and enviting. Their service is attentive without being pushy. Great iced mocha. They promote local talent a lot and have local entertainers on the weekends. Very cool!

I was very disappointed with this place. While I was excited to try what appeared to be a nice, different atmosphere, it was ruined by self-consciously rude service. If you're looking to go to a place to relax and feel comfortable, this is not it. I'm pretty sure it was the owner who was so obnoxious, so if he's who setting the pace there, good luck finding anybody welcoming you.
Cons: Most obnoxious service ever

Definitely a great place to go to get away. My first visit lasted over three hours. This can be attributed to the friendly service that provides a welcome attitude, personal service, and interesting conversation. The specialty coffee selection is defintely worthwhile-esp. those who need their caffene. (Try the "Smith and Wesson:" SIX shots of espresso! Or the "Kevorkian" not recommended for those that are feint of heart!"
Pros: Atmosphere
Cons: Lack of selection outside coffee

What a great place! You feel like a regular immediatly at this open and comfortable coffee house. A bonus is the free wi-fi that makes studying or relaxing easy. Upon my last visit to The Fixx, I was pleasently suprised to find an awesome Chicago musician playing acousitc guitar and performing original work. He plays the last Tuesday of each month and his name is Jeremy Evans. Congrats to The Fixx for supporting local talent!
Cons: drinks, atmosphere, free wifi
