Love this Salon!

I am a working mom, so I don't have alot of time to take out for myself anymore but when I do, Salon de Vive is where I go for "Me" time...

I go to Stefanie to cut my hair so I always get a great hair cut and she's the best for eyebrow wax as well. I not only enjoy talking to my stylist but socializing with the other stylists is part of the fun experience too. I always leave with a good laugh and a great hair cut!

Amazing Color and Creative Cuts

After moving from LA, I was having a very difficult time finding a salon to meet my standards for color and creative cuts. After trying a dozen salons in the Chicago area, I read the reviews on Salon de Vive and decided to give this salon a whirl. During my initial meeting with Vi, she took her time in asking me a lot of questions about my hair, previous cuts, and the over all look I was going for. She was confident in giving her opinion and ideas when I asked. I asked her to cut my very long red hair off and to take it back to a vibrant blonde. WOW!!! I walked out of there feeling like a million bucks-which is the feeling that I was used to having with my old salon in LA. What a relief to find her! My haircut was like artwork and I am once again getting compliments from random people on the streets...asking where I get my hair done. The color is vibrant and lasts months....it never dulls and when the cut grows out, it still has an amazing shape. I drive 1 1/2 hours in traffic to get my hair done now, but it is so worth the time and money to have it done right the first time! The only drawback is the lack of parking.

THE BEST!!

I have been going to Vi for more years than I can remember. She is an absolute artist with color. Really listens, understands your "issues" and always has great suggestions. The salon is beautiful and very comfortable. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. I would recommend to everyone. Enjoy!

Best hair cut in the city

Violica is the best. Always smiling and happy. Puts you in a good mood. Great atmosphere and pleasant employees. I've been to other cutters(out of necessity) and no one cuts like Violica. Keep up the good work.

Emmett rules

On my list of things to do once in my life was have the courage to wear a pixie cut. That was no small feat considering that in 43 years I never had my hair above my chin and, at the time of my cut, my ponytail alone was 13" long. I approached it like I do most tasks - researched first. Found photos and read articles about facial features and short hair. After reading reviews for many stylists I wandered in to Salon de Vive. I had walked out of at least one salon where no enthusiasm for the task at hand was shown. Not so in Salon de Vive.

Emmett warmly greeted me and sat me down to talk. It was immediately clear to me that he knew his stuff. I know my hair, which is thick and curly but also dries straight very well. Emmett seemed instinctively to know my hair as well. But more, he cared about why I was doing it, who I was, whether I was sure, and if the style would suit my head and face. That day he gave me a fabulous cut AND took time to explain how to work it.

A couple days later when I had concerns over a color I applied myself (calling in a panic) he took the time to call me back and talk me down. I am having immense fun with my re-invented look, due, in no small part, to Emmett. And the price - you wont find better in Chicago for what you get.

I've always been long to short hair but my hair is too thick and coarse so it always bomb up which made me keep away from short hair in daily life. But Stephany did it! Really nice job!

Worth the drive every time

My wife and I moved and we must now drive over 1.5 hours to Salon de Vive to have Emmett cut our hair but it is well worth the trip. My wife doesn't get her hair cut too often so we only go to Salon de Vive when she is ready for a hair cut. We just went yesterday, 6/7/08, and it was another great experience. Emmett is one of those rare individuals who just knows what is going to look good on you. I would highly suggest that you put your faith in Emmett and just let him work his magic without telling him what you want - I think you would be very pleased with the results. The salon itself is trendy, clean, and bright with lots of natural light - just being there makes you feel great. Get there about 15 minutes early because finding a parking spot may take a little time but it's usually not too bad. One other note - my wife and I have two children ages 2 & 1. There is a park just a couple of blocks away. I get my haircut first since it doesn't take too long and then I take the kids to the park while my wife gets her haircut. It works out great. I've been going to Emmett off-and-on for nearly seven years now and I haven't had a bad haircut yet.

• Cons: Allow 15 minutes to find a parking spot

SEE VI FOR YOUR COLOR

I'v e hopped around isfied Chicago salons for years , and have been satisfied or just "okay" with my color. Then i saw Vi upon a friends recommendation. All i can say is that Vi is really talented and has such a knack for making my highlited hair look soo natural and remain soo healthy. I see Vi every five weeks for my highlites and my hair has never been in such healthy and shiny condition. Vi always listens, smiles and offers new suggestions so i never get bored. I' ve been happy every time.

natural looking hair extensions

i was in search for a salon that offers hair extensions; after plenty of research i meet with Vi at salon de vive for a consultation before leaving her salon i booked my apt for the extensions. Vi is very knowledgable and made me feel very comfortable. Well my extensions look great they really look amazinly natural. Vi is great i left the salon feeling beautiful and confident i have never loved my hair like i do today.
