Great for game day

This is one of the best $12.00 investments I have ever made. I was visiting from Houston last weekend and me and my cousin decided to check this place out. We ended up here Friday(rainout), Saturday, and Sunday. 34oz. cold mugs---What else do you need? The Sunday experience was better because it was after the game. The menu is limited, but then again, I wasn't there to eat. I went there only to quench my thirst.

With beers this big, you can't go wrong.

Well, I went there this past weekend when some friends suggested it. They said it was an awesome german place with massive beers; their description was pretty spot on. The actual bar was roomy, even though there was no outdoor seating because of the weather. We were able to grab a table, and ordered beers within two minutes of sitting down. I tried the HB original, and it was absolutely amazing. My friend ordered the bavarian(sp?) bratwurst, and when it arrived, the smell of it alone was in perfect harmony with the taste of the beer. The food was cheap, I believe he paid 6-7 dollars for 2 brats and a good portion of kraut and potato salad. The beers were a little pricey, but not bad since the stein is utterly massive. SInce the stein is 12-13$, you're only paying about 3-4 dollars a beer, which certainly isn't a bad price on an import in the uber-expensive Wrigley scene. I ended up having a great time, and having to leave my car and take the el home. I will certainly be going back.

Pros: HUGE, amazing tasting beers. Very tasty and affordable food. Lots of space and a pretty chill atmosphere.

Cons: When crowded, service is a little slow, but going up to the bar to get a beer was an easy remedy. Never any drink deals as far as I know.

Really Loud and Predictable

Service was lacking any redeeming qualities when it came to making up their many faults. Food order was jumbled around along with our server who really in the end successfully did a great job avoiding our table. We we'ren't impressed by the fact we were passed up for a group of her friends who were at the table next to us. It was predictable that we were going to get bad service and an unmemorable dinning experience when we heard the couple who previously sat at our table swear never to come back.

It's Deutschland all the way at this rowdy Wrigleyville beer hall and garden.

The management behind Crobar has filled the shuttered Heaven on Seven on Clark location with typical German touches like beer hall bench seating, a handsome bar equipped with imposing ceramic taps, and a prime beer garden plastered with blue and white Hofbrau flags. All beer served is Munich's favorite--Hofbrau's gutsy lineup of lagers and ales--pitch-perfect with rich Bavarian fare like grilled brat-, knack- and weisswursts, potatoes, sauerkraut, and oversized pretzels with sweet mustard.

Overpriced, poor service

I went there two weeks ago and ended up having a decent time. I had an open tab and had them charge my card. They ended up charging my card twice for the bill. What should've been $75 ended up costing me $150 for a few drinks and some shots attached to a ski. On several occasions I have contacted the manager via phone and in person and let him know of my grievance. It has now been nearly three weeks and still no refund. I went back to the bar for their grand opening party and was waiting at the bar for 20 minutes trying to get the attention of anyone I could. No deal. I went next door and had a beer in my hand within 30 sec's.

Poor service all around and the beer and food are overpriced. Just another gimmicky place that will end up dying off with much better competition around it that puts customer service ahead of themes.

Authentic German Beer and Food

Real beer, great German food. The menu is limited, but the food was good quality. I had the Thuringer, a smoked sausage similar to a brat, which was excellent and a good value. The spatzle was also very good. Beer, as expected, was authentic German Hofbrau beer and was fresh and tasty. Good stuff all around
